Hello Everyone!
Hope you all are doing well. Today I am here to share review about a short story that I had read few weeks ago in my English book which is from my syllabus. When I read it, it sounded as normal as it is written but was surprised when our teacher explained its each and every line individually and told us about the beauty and the depth of every sentence. in detail. So I thought to share this beautiful story with a really meaningful lesson with you guys.
I am sharing its image so that you guys can also read it but its really important to read it carefully, understand it and get the point. And if you guys won't read it with concentration then you won't get the meaning and its just wastage of time.
INTRODUCTION
The story is about two youngsters Bill and Mary who fall in love with each other and spend many nights together walking and talking. They always had good time being around each other but didn't continued their relationship due to misunderstandings and some really casual things. But somehow managed to move on by the time in their lives.
WHO WAS TO BE BLAMED?
As Mary married another person she thought she loved and to be loved more then Bill. Where as it took quite a long time fro Bill to get over things and the feeling that had been once between both. Due to which Bill used to stop believing and got bitter about women. Looking on the situation it seems like it was Mary's fault cause if she really loved Bill once then she would have talked once about the non important things came in between both of them before marrying someone else. But are they really happy in their future lives or one of them is regretting?
TIME CHANGES EVERYTHING
Time never remains same. Neither for people nor for some broken relations. And nobody stays same. Some people change and some are forced to be changed by time. Same happened with Bill and Mary. Bill became a successful Lawyer , got married and was living happily with his children. However Mary also got 2 to 3 children but she was just surviving instead of living. Or was just fulfilling her duties of a mother and as an wife.
WHEN THEY MET AFTER YEARS
In many years it was the first time Mary saw Bill while walking across the Washington Square. They had a small conversation till her bus arrived. And guess what, like always everything was completely changed. Bill moved on and was living happily with his wife and kids. Whereas, Mary was left over regretting and looked so old (as observed by Bill). Nobody can change this truth that Bill no longer use to love her as he did before (which Mary observed while their short conversation) which was quite disappointing for Mary. But Mary still loved her (as observed by the readers) because she named her youngest child Bill which was a clear sign of how much she missed Bill and regretted.
MY WORDS
To be honest I just loved this story. Thou, it was a short story but still left an ever lasting impact on me. It also taught me a great lesson about Relationships, Time and Life.
