Polling has started in 5 UPs of Chagalnaya and 3 UPs of Parashuram

Polling has started in 5 UPs of Chagalnaya and 3 UPs of Parashuram in Feni. 3 out of 8 UPs are not voting for the post of Chairman as there is a single candidate. Also, candidates were elected unopposed in 7 general membership posts and 5 reserved women membership posts.

In order to conduct free, fair and impartial elections, a large number of law enforcement officers are on duty along with election officials. Also, one executive magistrate is employed in all unions and two judicial magistrates are employed in two upazilas.

For the first time in the district, 20 policemen have been fitted with body-on cameras to ensure transparency and accountability.

On the one hand enthusiasm was seen in the electoral area, but there was apprehension among the general voters due to the movement of outsiders. But so far no untoward incident has been heard.

Chagalnaya upazila election officer Jasim Uddin said that there are a total of 1 lakh 16 thousand 843 voters in 5 UPs of this upazila. Voters will exercise their right to vote at 293 booths in 46 centers from 8 am to 4 pm.

14 chairmen, 199 general members (members) and 42 reserved women members are contesting in 5 unions.

Since there is a single candidate, the current Chairman of Pathannagar Union, Rafiqul Haider Chowdhury Jewel, and Shubopur Union Chairman, Azizur Rahman Majnu, were elected unopposed, so there is no voting for the post of Chairman. Also, 1 member in Mahamaya Union, 2 members in Pathannagar Union and 1 reserved member were elected unopposed.

Meanwhile, since there is a single candidate in Parashuram, the current chairman Jasim Uddin in Chithlia UP, general member in ward No. 5 Abul Kalam and general member in ward No. 8 Md. Yachin, reserved member of Ward No. 1, 2, 3 Sufia Akhter, reserved member of Ward No. 7, 8 and 9 Nazneen Akhtar were elected unopposed.

Also Buxmahmud is the general member of the 6th Ward of UP. Meanwhile, Dwilip Chandra Pal in Ward No. 4, Sufia Khatun in Reserved Ward No. 4, 5, 6 and Parveen Akhtar in Reserved Ward No. 7, 8, 9 were elected unopposed. Fazlul Bari Mansoor was elected unopposed for Ward No. 5 in Buxmahmood UP. Voting is being held in this union by Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).

In 1 out of 27 centers of 3 unions, no polling is taking place as all the candidates were elected unopposed. Polling is being held in the remaining 26 centres.

Parshuram upazila election officer Mohammad Saiful Islam said that there are 57 thousand 109 voters in 26 centers of 3 unions. 1 Chairman and 5 members and 4 reserved women members are not voting due to single candidate.
