Food Nutrition Part-1: Vitamin B1 Facts

The human body runs on fuel! And this fuel is food that we consume. Food contains various types of compounds which are called nutritions. Inside the food nutrition, there is a family which is called the Vitamins. And vitamin B1 belongs to that family.

There is another name for vitamin B1 known as thiamin or thiamine. It's related to carbohydrates. Because vitamin B1 enables the carbohydrate to convert into energy.

Vitamin B1 is a bit different from other vitamins. For the water-soluble characteristics of vitamin B1, it can't be stored inside our body. If you take it inside your body, you will be able to store it for a maximum of 3-4 hours, not more than that. After that, it will be completely excreted.

The common vitamin B1 deficiency disease is Beriberi, weight loss, anorexia, etc. It can also create problems like short memory loss and other mental diseases.

As we can't store vitamin B1 inside our body ao we should take food every day that contains vitamin B1. Foods like bread are a good source of vitamin B1. This vitamin also can be found in cereals, nuts, pulses, etc. Some vegetables like potatoes, cauliflower, asparagus contain a good amount of vitamin B1.

If we eat foods that contain a sufficient amount of vitamin B1 then we will never face deficiency.
