Entrance of the canal

This is still one of the greatest Engineering which connects Atlantic ocean with Pacific ocean and saves a distance of 3800 km for the ships to travel.

This is a mixture of gravity and engineering.

Then fills the locks by sea water which comes by gravity from the sea. When the sea water level rises as well as the ship. When the ship comes to the water level of next lock they open the forward gate and ship moves to the next lock.
Total 6 locks are there to cross the canal. Its like they takes the ship in a mountain level slowly slowly.
