Magnets and it's uses

A magnet is any material, metal or nonmetallic which has its atoms arranged in a way that makes it able to attract other iron objects.

Magnetic poles

All magnets have two side, one side is the North Pole [N] and the other side of the same Magnet is the South Pole [S]. If two magnets are brought together, the poles of the same types will reject themselves while ends of different types attract themselves together.

Magnetic field

Magnets have an area around it that his power can reach, It is call magnets field. The power of a magnet is stronger when something is close to the magnet but is weak when the iron is far away.

Types of magnets

There are three types of magnets a permanent, a temporary and an electro Magnet.

• Permanent Magnets
  This is a string magnet that maintains its power as a magnet without losing it.

• Temporary Magnets
  This are materials that will behave like a magnet for a while and may latter stop acting like a magnet

• Electro-Magnets
  An Electro-Magnets is an arrangement of coil and soft-iron that behaves like magnets when a direct current is passed through it.

• Magnets are used to keep the refrigerator door closed.
• They are used on door bells.
• Magnets are used in children's toys.
• Magnets are used to activate sensors.
• They are used on speaker and headphones.
• They are also used to hold dusters to whiteboards.
• They are found inside dynamo.
• they are used to lift heavy objects.
