Shea Butter Processing

As of late, shea butter has arisen as promising monetary product and has acquired worldwide acknowledgment as a result of its remedial properties.". In the northern part of Ghana, the processing of shea butter has created more jobs for women since it is of high purchase in both local and foreign markets. This is as a result of the health benefits it produces.
Some of the benefits of shea butter may include;
The butter is rich in variety of fatty acids. This unique composition helps to clear skins from excess oil. It also helps restore moisture to one’s skin and locks it in to epidermis, o the skin doesn’t dry out of oil.
In lessening hidden irritations, shea is connected to the tissue redesigning that is urgent for treating wounds.".. This is mostly used in some communities for treatment of wounds.
Applying shea butter to one’s skin can make it easier for the skin to absorb and wont make your skin look oily after application

PROCESSES INVOLVED IN THE PREPARATION OF SHEA BUTTER
Raw materials
Shea nut

Equipment
Mortar,
Pistil,
Cooking Pot,
Stirring Stick

Procedure
Collection or Buying the shea nuts from the field or market.
Then you parboil the shea nut and dry it in the sun.
Crack them to remove the outer shell.

pound dried nuts.
Dry-fry pounded nuts
Take it to the grinding mill to turn it into paste form.
Add water to the milled nut and beat until mixture begins to produce white content.
Add more water and stir until oil floats on top.
Stir the oil until it is solidified.
The oil heated in a different container and stored
The by-product (brownish water) is used as a local paint for their houses

4. Physical Change (Grinding or Pounding)
5. Chemical Change (Oil is finally found)
