Does pixel density affect image quality?steemCreated with Sketch.

#Screens on #TVs, computer #monitors, #smartphones or devices such as #tablets have certain technical features. As these features are directly determining the quality, the pixel density is one of the important criteria in determining the quality on the screen. #Pixel density, used as #PPI or an abbreviation for “pixel per inch”, refers to the number of pixels in a given area on the screen. For screens measured in inches, therefore pixel density is determined by fine. However, this is not a necessity, and it can be calculated with different measures such as centimeters.

❓What is the advantage of high pixel density?
A device with 500 PPI will have a performance of 500 as pixel density. This means that each frame of the screen has 500 pixels. The higher the pixel density on a screen, the higher the quality to be received. However, there is no upper limit in this regard, and very high values are not included, since above a certain pixel density cannot be distinguished by the human eye most of the time. Especially in scenarios with low pixel density, pixels can be seen, distinguished and low image quality can be encountered.

❓How is pixel density calculated?
Calculating the pixel density is a very technical process, but anyone can calculate the current pixel density. In order to perform these operations, first of all, the height and width of the screen, its resolution and its size in inches must be known. The pixel density calculation formula is as follows;

PPI= √h²+w²/inch

According to the formula, the screen height and width dimensions should be squared and added, and then the square root should be taken. Then the result will be divided by the number of inches. Thanks to the calculations to be made, the pixel density can be easily calculated on all desired screens.

💥What is the relationship between pixel density and viewing distance?
There is a direct relationship between pixel density and viewing distance. Because on a screen with a low pixel density, it is much more difficult to distinguish the pixels when viewed from a distance. The shorter this distance, the easier the pixels will be to be noticed. For this reason, keeping people at a suitable distance will again provide a better performance in terms of pixel density and quality.
