Good day steemians, it is a great pleasure to be able to take part in this contest. Big regards to @zero-to-infinity community for always keeping this community active. We are asked in this contest to write about our favorite Mathematicians.

Mathematicians
Mathematics is one of the major relevant aspects of the world. But before the development of Mathematics which enlightened us today about Computers, GPS satellites, mechanics, just to mention a few. People with brilliant minds built up and formulate the mathematical ideas and foundation that makes it easy for us to understand maths and how it is related to the modern world. This people are referred to as Mathematicians. Some of these mathematicians are; Pythagorean, John Napier, Isaac Newton, Johannes Kepler, Blaise Pascal and many more.
From the brief about Mathematicians above, I will now extend my content to talk about my favorite mathematician, John Napier.

Who is this great mathematician, John Napier?
John Napier was a Scottish Mathematician at the same time a theological writer who invented a concept of logarithms which aids in easy Calculations in mathematics.
John Napier created a massive concept: that is Logarithm. The log of any given number makes us clear with the order of the magnitude of that number. Though, they are other concepts such as Napier's bones, promptuary, decimals etc. But I want to focus on logarithms.

How does logarithm helpful in the modern world?
The invention of analogue computers and slide rules where made use of the basic knowledge of logarithm. It greatly reduced the time required for multiplying larger digit numbers. One of the reasons why logarithm is beneficial is focus on its properties.

It turns multiplication into addition

Logaxy = Log ax +Log ay

It also turns division to subtraction

Logax/y = Logax - Logay

Other properties are
Logaa = 1

Loga1 = 0

Logaaa = a

And many more.

Conclusion
From the above content, you will be able to know who a Mathematician is, their great contribution particularly my favorite mathematician, John Napier. He invented not only one concept but I only talk a bit about logarithms which aids in easy calculation of larger digit numbers. My final regards again goes to @zero-to-infinity for keeping us active with these great contests.
