TREE PLANTING CHALLENGE: HOW I PLANTED A TREE @rutthy

My name is @rutthy and i am a Nigerian. I am an Agric economist and the trees posted are from my school Aboretum.

The name of the tree planted is Teak and its scientific name is Techtona Grandis. It belongs to the kingdom plantae,Genus Tectona and the species name is Grandis. It is a tropical hardwood tree species from the family Laminacea. It is deciduous, large and has small fragrant white flowers arranged in dense clusters (pinnacles) at the end of The branches. He flowers contains both types of reproductive organs.

ORIGIN:
It is native to Bangledesh, Indonesia and Thailand but it is mainly cultivated in countries such as Arica and the Carribean.

METHOD OF PROPAGATION:
Techtona Grandis can be propagated successfully using the teak branch cuttings as old as 100 years and the best season to collect and propagate the teak cuttings is in the month of March, April and May. The temperature and high humidity are the most important factors in the development of shoots and roots.

ABOUT TREE PLANTING:
Tree planting can be simply be defined as the process of planting trees in order to purify our environment. Planting of trees can be generally done mainly for planting purposes, forestation, land reclamation etc. It is a known fact that trees contribute immensely to our environment and impact positively on our well-being. That us why in some countries, peoples are mandated to plant trees because of the health benefits. Trees provide oxygen, improves the quality of air we breath, ameliorates the climate, preserve the soil, conserves water and supports wildlife because it provides food for our wild animals to feed on and grow well.

THE PROCESS:
Green plants produce their own food through the process of photosynthesis and they have a green pigment called chlorophyll. During this photosynthetic process, the trees take in carbon di oxide (CO) and in turn produce oxygen that we human beings breath and survive.

Planting of trees is carried out in various countries and the strategies uses by one country differ from the other country. Planting of trees has its root in Forest Science and if carried out properly can lead to successful reforestation.

Tree planting helps to remove carbon dioxide from the air as they grow, that is the major reason why it can be used as Geoengineering technique in order to remove Carbon four oxide (CO2) from the atmosphere.

TREE PLANTING HELPS IN CLIMATE CHANGE:

Markets have been developed in recent years for traceable pollution and this has in turn paved way for a new source of funding for tree planting projects such as CARBON OFFSETS.

The creation of carbon offsets which stems from these tree planting projects is based on the argument that trees help to hinder climate change by setting apart carbon dioxide as they grow.

It can also be noted that trees separates carbon through the photosynthesis process, then it converts water molecules and carbon di oxide into plant organic matter and molecular oxygen which includes carbohydrates.

Trees in most especially provide clean air, offer protection from flooding, and store carbon that helps to prevent catastrophic climate breakdown.

ECONOMIC IMPORTANCE OF TREE PLANTING:

1. It purifies the air.

2. It serves as a means of job creation.eg people working in the Lumber Industry.

3. It provides oxygen.

4. It helps to beautify the environment.

5. Reduces erosion and pollution in our waterways.

6. Some trees serve as a habitat for many species of wildlife.
