St. Matthew 2:1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying,
St. Matthew 2:2 “Where is he who is born King of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east, and have come to worship him.”
St. Matthew 2:3 When King Herod heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
St. Matthew 2:4 Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he asked them where the Christ would be born.
St. Matthew 2:5 They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for this is written through the prophet,
St. Matthew 2:6 ‘You Bethlehem, land of Judah, are in no way least among the princes of Judah: for out of you shall come a governor, who shall shepherd my people, Israel.’”
First of all I refer to the creation of mankind, God said in Genesis 1;26 that the reason for man's creation was to have dominion on the earth. This reveals that man was originally created to be king over the earth. But somehow man lost the dominion to the devil and his rulership and kingdom was was transferred to the devil in Genesis 3.
So in the same Genesis 3;15 God promised the coming of the messiah (the seed). So the messiah's job must have to be the restoration of what man lost.
So jesus was born in Mathew 2 and the bible says everyone testified that he was born to be king.
Jesus told us severally all he wanted us to preach according to Mathew 10. In all his sermons and parables, he preached the gospel and his ministry should serve as template for us.
