Have you ever gotten the chance to speak to the younger you? or better still, have you ever met your younger self, let's say ten to fifteen years younger than you are now?
Well, I did!. Yesterday I had a dream. In this dream met a young lady called Grace by the roadside in a local community setting. On this road there was a school that had come to do community work around the water areas and the roads. Upon looking closer at the students, I realized that they were wearing a uniform that we used to wear a long time ago when I was still in a high school. I started to see faces of girls that I studied with way back then and I realized that this was the same school where I attended school for close to 6 years.
Obviously when I saw the familiar faces the next thing on my mind was where am I or 'She'? You will not believe what I saw. As I looked further down the road I saw a younger self of me. She was absolutely very beautiful with a flawless skin, very healthy, abit fatter than I I am now and she had natural hair tied in a puff above her head. She had the most tantalizing eyes that I had ever seen. I felt so proud of her.
You're obviously thinking "what did you do next?" Well, I talked to her but she was indifferent to me. She did not know who I was because I was a total stranger to her but I knew her because I knew that she was 'me' when I was much younger. I thought instantly how much I wanted to ask her so many questions but the biggest question on my mind was, "Grace do you know how hard it's going to be in the future after your dad is dead?" I would have loved to say all these things and more:
But she seemed too innocent and too carefree that I did not want to spoil her day so I did not bother asking her the same question. I continued to watch her throughout the day and to see the things she enjoyed doing as i re-lived the moments. I enjoyed seeing her laugh and smile and help others. Seeing how selfless she was, I feared for her innocence in this cruel world.
I will pause a question to you today. If you ever met your younger self, what would you tell them? Would you tell them every detail and tell until them not to take on the same risks that you took? Would you tell them to be stronger or to give up? Would you tell them everything about their lives and would they even believe you? Would you have believed it at that time?
Look at it this way; If you would want the best for your younger self then, it is probably true that you older self at this time would want the same for you right now, so imagine that you have met your older self. What things do you think your older self would tell you that you can change today about yourself?
Make appointments with your future self everyday. Change the odds today. Tell yourself the things that would make the future you say " Well done, buddy! We did it" Food for thought.
Chaó Adios.
