Hello Friends , It's @besticofinder here.

Installing Solar Panels with my team

When thinking about the planet positives .. I think solar engineers should be in the top of the list of planet saviors. When comparing to the other countries in the world , sri lanka is blessed with sun light and have a great potential for solar power generation. I was working as a Solar Engineer for around 2 years and have managed around 50 solar photovoltaic sites including both domestic and commercial varies from 3kW to 1 MW systems. So today I'm going to discuss how solar system will positively affect the environment.

Working as a solar engineer or a solar technician is not an easy work . We had to work whole day facing the sun heat and on the roof tops of high rise buildings .. there is a great risk associated with our work of installing solar panels. But I see it's not only a occupation, but a great service to the mother nature

We can basically give these reasons on how Solar PV protects environment

  • It reduces the carbon footprint - Solar Photovoltaic panels have no any emissions when converting sunlight to DC electricity. And also solar panels don't need water for this conversion. So it reduces carbon footprint.

  • It reduce fossil fuel usage - Normally fossil fuel is widely used in conventional power generation methods ex: diesel generators , gas turbines etc. When the portion of total electricity demand can be supplied from PV systems .. the fossil fuel usage for power generation can be reduced.

  • Saves water - Normally in power generation , fresh water is used in lot of applications .. directly in hydro power and for generator cooling etc. But for PV systems is not essential .

  • No environment pollution - Solar PV power generation is 100% green. No emissions , No sounds .. 100% environment friendly ( But the pollution in generating and recycling solar panels have to be considered .. but still it's greener than conventional methods )

I feel really happy as I have directly involved in around 3 MW ( 3000 kW) of Solar PV systems , So that is approximately 5,365,500 kg of CO2 saved annually. So as a person I'm very happy to have a opportunity to do something positive to the planet.

Thanks all and this is my first post in this session 3 .. will meet again with a new one..

Solar energy should be one of the priorities that all countries in the world should take into account, since it does not pollute the environment, much less affect the other services that the ecosystem offers us, without a doubt your job is to help the planet in a positive way. Thanks for sharing what you do.

Note: I have selected your post for my Better Life report, I hope you continue to shine a light on this great work.

Greetings

Let's go for more ...

Are many domestic properties in Sri Lanka using solar PV now?

Have you got any on your home?

Yes sir , there are many rooftop power plants in srilanka.. thousands actually .. total capacity of 4,955 MW according to latest update.
Yes sir I have installed a system at my place and with the company I was working I have installed around 50 systems with different capacities

Great Work

Thanks macn
