Hello Friends,
Today we visited Kaluthara temple as it was our 1 st Wedding Anniversary. We wanted to do some religious activities early in the morning with our family. We did a "Kiripindu Pooja" for the Bodhi tree and after the pooja I was able to do a small almsgiving to crow friends. It was a really great experience and a memory.

Feeding crow's

The crow or usually called , house crow or Colombo crow is a bird who loves to live around human settlements. Crow's eat simply every thing. Mostly human grasp , grains , insects , fruits etc. In city of Colombo they mainly depends on human meal leftovers. There are hundreds of crows around Kaluthara temple. The reason is Kaluthara temple is located at the place where Kalu river ( One of the main rivers in Sri Lanka ) joins the sea. So they have foods around this area. And people who come to worship Buddha , feed them from the pooja's.

They noticed me and reached for the foods

Can you see the background ? It was a really amazing view. This is the first time I visited there before 7.00 a.m. It was a really fascinating view with the river and the mist. When I kept the food on the wall and they noticed them. Then one by one joined the table. It was a milk rice mixed with fruits.

Enjoying their meals -decently

These crow's are very familiar with human's. So they do not afraid as they know people will not harm them. So they are comfortable people near them , taking photographs etc. I got a similar experience in Galle , where we can feed piggions early in the morning. Actually in Galle, you can feed hundreds .. there are higher number of piggions.

He was very hungry

I was really glad to feed them in the morning. I love to feed birds. I maintain a bird feeding spot in my house too. Where I got lot of daily customers. It's a good habit and a great way to relax. After feeding them we started our way back to home. I was feeling little bit sleepy as I got up around 3.30 a.m today for the preparation's of the pooja. It was a great day ! Thank you very much for going through my article.

Have a nice day friends ! Stay safe !
