I've used STEEM since 2016 and always saw the promise of the platform and stuck around because of the promise of exciting developments with this chain and the various Dapps and front ends using it.
Since the TRON merger, I thought money and development resources, as well as marketing, would be put into STEEM to drive it to reach the potential we can all see. However, other than the TRON wallet faucet link, there has not been much innovation that I've seen and it's made me feel like the platform has no direction.
STEEM and STEEMIT are seriously lagging behind and has not leveraged the latest in crypto to try and remain relevant and attract more users.
Multiple sign up options
Signing up for STEEM is a pain in the arse, it always has been, even if it's free it still isn't enough of a lower barrier to getting people to sign up. I would like to see more sign up options from both a centralised and decentralised aspect.
Sign up or sign in with
- Gmail
- Metamask
- Tronlink
Should all be standard options and for those who already have an account, you should be able to link your STEEM account with something like a Meta Mask or TRONlink wallet too, not only for easy signup but opening STEEM up to other chains.
Opening up sign up and sign in options will make it more appealing to a wider user base, lower the barrier to entry and drive more users into the STEEM ecosystem.
Cross-chain asset
I would like to see STEEM minted on different chains, like having a STEEM token on TRON, ETH and BSC chain. This will allow STEEM to be hosted on different chains, accepted in wallets that aren't native to STEEM and get the token into more hands and wallets for better distribution an appeal.
Using the cross-chain model you can also appeal to users to use the STEEM chain by letting them know they can use STEEM in a feeless environment when using the native chain.
STEEM-FI
The STEEM internal exchange desperately needs an upgrade, I mean all it does is allow you to trade between STEEM and SBD, surly having more internal assets would be a plus, even if it's only a few. If STEEM had its SMT protocol, we could bring the cross-chain model to STEEM and have people manage TRON or other assets from their STEEM wallet and trade it on the internal market making the market more useful.
It would also be an attractive way to bring more capital into STEEM since you can trade in a feeless manner and could even provide income. STEEM could charge a minting fee, or you need to burn STEEM to bring your tokens in and out of the STEEM/STM system.
I would also like to see STEEM available in other DEX's for example TRON Trade and JUSTswap and have a liquidity pool set up on the TRON ecosystem.
-As well as ETH with Uniswap
- And BSC with PancakeSwap
The idea here is to take STEEM to where the money is and people will look to buy it if it's easy to acquire.
SBD Peg + Multi-assets
We can clearly see the SBD peg is totally broken now and it loses validity as a stable coin for every day the peg is broken. Having an interest rate model the way DAI does can help attract capital or move capital out of SBD to help keep it stable.
It can also be minted on other chains and put into pools like Curve with other stable coins to help arbitrage opportunities and keep the price pegged.
Dapp growth
I'd like to see an incubation fund or campaign of some kind for Dapps that want to build on STEEM or add STEEM is a token or payment method in their dapp. This will allow STEEM to tap into a wider audience and leverage audiences built by other Dapps
Have your say
What do you good people of STEEM think?

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us via this contest. Actually, community member, from korea have launched a liquidity pool for wsteem/trx pair last time but seems like the project stopped as not enough interest. Would love to see wsteem/trx pair on justswap again soon or on trx defi as in pancakeswap.
Leofinance seems to cover all the possibilities to sign up like those you mentioned, I think that's translated the mooning price they have now.. ?Hopefully, steemit will get to do that soon too.

I did see nut something the wherein guys make a wrapped token tSteem but I don't know what happned to it. But what i would like is to see it added to the UX of the wallet and front end so it makes it a one click moving your STEEM to say TRON/ETH or BNB instead of having to go to 3rd party sites
Like with LEO I can convert my LEO to WLEO or ETH straight in my wallet

yea the steemitwallet page should have all the swap functions to other tokens in there and link to other defi projects that community members might be interested in.

Absolutely, the more toolsets we give individuals and communities the more empowered they become and they bring fresh ideas. STEEM needs to diversify, if its going to attract new people, the blogging model clearly only gets us so far

Oh hi ! I am almost never here so it was just luck I saw this.
One of my first post back in 2018 was about how difficullt it is to enter steem. So I can still agree with that.
If steem needs di-fi - I am not sure. I have always see steem and hive as a blogplatform to use to have fun. Sure you can make money in blogging or playing but it is not a di-fi platform or so. If I want more financeial services I go to matic or so.
Time to go to bed. Good Night.
