Cooking Lontong With Family for Eid Al-Adha

How are you today.? I hope you are all in good health and always happy. Enjoy Eid al-Adha with family and friends, I also want to post about activities ahead of Eid al-Adha with family.
Yesterday before Eid al-Adha, my family and I cooked rice cake to be served to guests who came on Eid al-Adha. Lontong is a type of rice-based food that is cooked for approximately 4 hours, before being cooked the rice that has just been put in a banana leaf roll.

After all the rice is put in a banana leaf roll and then put in a Dandang (a container for boiling) and filled with clean water until the surface of the Dandang is full. The fire produced by firewood greatly affects the level of maturity of the rice cake, therefore the fire must always be maintained so that the temperature in the Dandang is stable.

If the water is already boiling and the temperature in the pan is stable, it only takes 4 hours for the rice cake to cook perfectly, the fire must be evenly distributed so that the resulting temperature is also stable. After 4 hours the lontong is cooked and can be removed and cooled in a basket, when the lontong has cooled the texture will be dense and chewy.

Lontong is served with vegetable curry and also added some other snacks such as chili sauce, boiled eggs, rendang, noodles and crackers as a complement. Lontong is served for guests or family who are present, lontong is also used as a special food at the time of Eid al-Adha celebrations and other holidays.
