Today was my day off and I went to the hospital to process the discharge papers
Last Monday, we are given a discharge order but until now we are not able to discharge and the bill keeps on adding.
Yesterday, we went to DSWD to process a financial assistance. We really plead to them to possible grant us the higher amount possible because we really don't have enough funds. After a long negotiation, they gave us guarantee letter of 100, 000. We are so glad that they heard our side.
With so much joy, we went to the hospital hoping that finally my mother can go home but unfortunately, another problem occured. Since it was 8 o'clock in the evening, they advised us to go home because they will call the doctor if they will honor the guarantee letter.
We arrived at 8 o'clock in the morning today with the hope for a good news. The billing in- charge informed us that the doctor will not honor the letter and wants to be paid for cash.
We don't know what to do anymore. It is so hard to be in a situation where you can't do anything.
It was so painful hearing my mother cry over the phone because of worrying where to get the payment. Assuring her that we will be out this day is so hard to do. Lifting her up is very painful because deep inside we don't know where to go.
While sitting here in front of the station, thinking for ways to do, a good samaritan approached me named Ms.Lisa. I think she is the head of the billing section.
She approached me and asked me what's the problem. I was crying in front of her stating my mother's situation. She gave me an option on what to do with our outstanding bill. She offered to negotiate with the doctors to allow us to pay atleast half of their Professional Fees and to pay the remaining on staggared basis.
We need to have atleast 50,000php today until 5pm for us to be discharged.
We know that it is too big but we never gave up, we contacted some of our friends if they can let us barrow any amount of money.
By the end of the day, we already had 50,000pho. I immediately process her discharged papers and brought my mother home.
We still have remaining balance but the most important things is we were able to let her go home.
To all of you, thank you so much for being with me in this journey. Thank you for all the prayers, it really means a lot.
To God be the glory.
Always,
