How Do I Introduce Steemit..

I thought it is better to share my experience on how I introduce steemit to my friends. We shouldn't forget roots, so first of all let me tell you a little history about steemit in Sri Lanka according to my knowledge. @theguruasia is the person who first work hard to introduce this platform to Sri Lanka ( as far as I know ). Then his closest friends worked to build the Sri Lankan community. When the time passes, due to some reasons many users left. I joined very late to the show. It was the time of #the100daysofsteem project. I did a research and found 6 other active members in different levels. Specially @madushanka was a very nice and knowledgeable person who help me a lot. With the diarygame season 2, I started to introduce some of my friends to steemit, and also invited other existing user like besticofinder to join with @steemblog contests and finally, as a country we are here!

I am so proud to write my process of "Introducing Steemit" . I will organize it as points for clarity of reading.

My First Question...

image.png

When some one ask me about steemit or, when I want to bring some one to steemit, it is my first question. Those who are not interested in writing don't remain here during difficult conditions unless they have any other tricky mechanisms. The best example my colleagues who participated in the diary game season never cried by telling their posts were not visited by @steemcurator01. They didn't stop, they didn't left the platform. Even today, I mention them as examples to newly joined members.

I Don't Promise Votes

image.png

I never talk about dollars when recruiting people. What I say is, "You will get a little reward for what you write. But if you do some thing extraordinary, you are open to go for more. But you can't be rich one night. Start this as a hobby" The best example is @sandupi. She joined with diarygame. She just wanted to write and have a fun out of it. She enjoyed her very first 2$-4$ votes lot. She did many experiments to build a own pattern to her. She improved a lot by looking at others with her courage. Finally she found her pattern. And now she is doing very well as well as she is helping others a lot. According to my opinion, when recruiting a person for long run, we have to give first place to their inner passion.

I Give Them Time to Think and Study Others Profiles

image.png

If they agree to face to bad times, I give some good profiles to them and ask them to study. In this steps they get an idea about what to write. The way they write can be improved later. In this step if they are willing to accept the challenge, I teach them to make the account. For every thing I have made tutorials now, but early days I repeated them it multiple times.

I ask them to select what they are really passionate on. @sandu is a super talented in crafts and foods as well as writing and she is going in her path by aggregating all her skills. @anusha96 is so busy with her profession as a nurse, but she manage to write in her spare time, @damithudaya is crazily like on cricket so writes about cricket most of the time. @sandupi loves singing and she is singing for music for steem. And @praweenw96 is writing movie reviews which is his passion, (unfortunately credit of recruiting him is not completely mine)

I push them to go forward in the area they like by showing opportunities.

Welcome to the Steemit!

image.png

Once they are ready with account, I add them to my private channel where all other friends in. It's a kind of wonderful place that the new comer can't stay without talk. There are friends recruit by me, and next level friends invited by my friends and also a third level. There are 20 members but generating about 500 chat lines per day, at least. They are asking questions, answering other's questions, giving suggestions, discussing trending news and also some casual conversations too. New members quickly become too friendly and they learn by each other. In the first time when I recruit members, I had a big work but now it is a team work.

Basically I recommend them to go through Achievement program, at least Achievement 1 to get the first experience in steemit.

I Give Some Basic Conditions

image.png

When I introduce a member to steemit, the first rule I give is "Do not copy paste" I strictly mention them to do unique contents as otherwise there are no survival here. Secondly I ask them not to keep more than one account, just full focus on what you are doing. Third, I advice them to post frequently, other wise they miss the rhythm of steemit. Also they are asked to engage others as much as they can. There is a set of thing I repeat for every new comer.

Telling Secrets of Success

image.png

After they settled up with their introduction post, they are provided with so may instructions about making the second post. Until they come to a good level I follow back. Even second level and third level recruitments. Then I help to promote them selves in an area they like and then let them to fly their own.

Are they All Still in Steemit

image.png
I have introduced about 9 members directly. But only 4 of them are still active. But non of them left by telling steemit is boring, they got so busy in their real life.

I love my friends a lot.

Do you know, we, @anusha96, @sandu, @dinoli, @randula99 and me won the first place team prize in diary game. It is the first set I recruited.

@damithudaya won spud4steem and so many contests (more than 10) and an active moderator in World of Cricket.

@sandupi is getting famous in music for steem. I am really proud of them.

Challenge is Retention

image.png

Here in my case, busy life is the main reason for inactive accounts. Even though they receive good rewards and even though they like to write, they are restricted with personal works. Some times I see when I ask them to write, they don't trust about the site. Sometimes they feel afraid when I say it is blockchain based.

I think I wrote everything I do when I introduce steemit to some one.

Thank you Damith.

He hee.. So strict😅😅😅😅. If you carefully read there is a line that I indirectly request your missed parties😁. Please consider it.

I can remember the first day you told about steemit in our whatsapp group ❤️
I hadn't facilities those days to join but From what you said about steemit , I decided to do this as a hobby on the first day.
Your way is so good buddy because we are still here doing steemit as a hobby. Thank you so much for introducing steemit for us..❤️

And now you are totally addicted to it😅

Exactly you are doing a great job here for the betterment of Steemit platform and I appreciate every single work you done for our community. Again and again I must thankful to you for bringing me here. You are a good guider and supporter with a kind heart. Thank you both @randulakoralage and Harith for your valuable dedication and support for us. ❤️

Ini informasi yang padat dan terperinci. Ketika saya bergabung dengan Steemit saya tak mendapat bimbingan dari yang senior, kecuali yang baru gabung. Jadi, infomasi masih minim. Tapi saya coba gabung. Akhirnya saya sekarang jadi anggota steemit. Namun, saya merasa jauh tertinggal ketika membaca informasi seperti ini. Kenapa tidak dapat dari awal ya? Terimakasih telah berbagi.

Thank you so much for your entry! You are very active and have met a lot of new friends and brought new talent to the platform.

Thank you and best wishes for 2021!

Happy new year. It was an awsome topic😍

I can guarantee that the things that you mentioned in this post are the ones that you actually does as I am a new comer to this platform. Your guidance, encouraging words and dedication make me come this far in a little period of time. Thank you very much for that😍😊

Your guidance, encouraging words and dedication make me come this far in a little period of time

more than me it is your talented sister. you two are totally matched. I'm jealous that I don't have a similar sister like me.

@randulakoralage,
Thank you for mentioning my name here. I am in the list of first few Sri Lankans who joined this platform. Most of them already left the platform. But some of them made a huge success true the platform. @steemshiro is one among them. Not a blogger at all, as a gaming person he made a success story on this platform then moved to HIVE.
I also moved to HIVE due to few reasons. And it works.
I think Sri Lankan steem community should start the journey at HIVE too. STEEM is not the same place that we joined before. And I don't believe STEEM have its userbase anymore. Things has been changed with that HARDFORK. When I check the Trending page of STEEM, I feel sad, I feel bad.
So I think SL community should keep 50% - 50% with both platforms.

Cheers~

Hi ayye.. I was thinking what is the proper reply😉.. You know I am just a kid comparing to you..I landed here after March and I felt it is so comfortable here in steemit and I loved it.. But you know, I don't know about other place actually 😊 . Mata therenne na kiyanna deyak ayye😬

Thank you so much for stopping by my mention 😍😍

@randulakoralage,
HIVE kyanne STEEM blockchain eke Hardfork ekak. Issara hitapu godak STEEMIAN la dan inne HIVE wala.
Look at the STEEMIT Trending page. This is a sinking ship...

Wow thanks for sharing your experience this article is very helpful much appreciation.

Stay safe.

Thank you @mccoy02 It's my own way I follow.. I read your one too..

No arguments. Everything about you in the comment section is true. You are a really good guide.❤
I look forward to your continued support.😍😍😍
All the very best.!!!

😘😘thanks dear. Its so good you came back. 🎈

Thanks for sharing your experience on how you introduce steemit to new people. It's a simplified one. I like that first approach question on "whether someone is a fan of writing." I believe when someone is passionate about writing, other benefits are just secondary.

Hi @yohan2on

It's been a long time since we last talked. How are you?

"whether someone is a fan of writing

But after reading other articles, now I start to think about other ways too. I saw, some times there are ways in steemit that can earn without interest to write. Isn't it?

Yes, it's indeed been a long while since we last talked. I am doing well. I have just got back into the posting business on steemit. I have been faced with internet issues for quite some time since I lost my other smartphone. Otherwise, i am doing fine and looking forward to becoming more active on steemit as I used to in the past.

Yes, there are other ways but they need someone to come in with some investment in steem so that to earn through curation. Not everyone has money to invest in steem and that's why everyone has to go through writing posts and engaging with others through comments.

So happy to see you are back. We missed a part without you.

Not everyone has money to invest in steem and that's why everyone has to go through writing posts

Yeah, that's the thing. I think for the long run the interest in writing is important.

I wish to see you everywhere again!

I think this should be a blueprint on How we should introduce Steemit to others 😃
The catchy old way of getting a reward for your writing on steemit might be outdated and not working as those who attract to this would end up frustrated if they not getting the result they wanted.
Most important is grooming and engaging with the recruits that we have brought in here so they feel motivated to carry on.
Not all humans can be self-motivated, humans are meant to live as a community, constantly lifting up each other and be there for each other in good and bad times...
Thank you for sharing your experience and all the works and contributions that you did for steemit community. I'm glad that I noticed you back then. I knew you are a reliable one. Sometimes you are a bit strict but that's your character, you have all other good sides that make up for that 😄

Keep on flying high and soar!

this would end up frustrated if they not getting the result they wanted.

Yes.. both you and I saw this before a few months the result of over-promising.

Not all humans can be self-motivated

They need to push. As steemit is a little different than other social media they need lots of guidence to understand the pattern of steemit. Recruiters have to spend some additional time on it.

Sometimes you are a bit strict

😅Just for bad things. and wrong behavior. Otherwise, I am so fun😅😅😅 . Oh ask them kannon 😄

Nice job with the contest ❤️️
