Oh Canada
All week in our house the focus has been on the Canadian truckers dispute which started out in Vancouver on the 23rd January. This is a significant event and naturally the media is trying to black it out as much as they can. The reality is about 50,000 trucks have been in a convoy to the Canadian capital Ottawa to protest, originally, against the vaccine mandates required to cross the Canadian/US border.
To give you a size of the true scale of this protest - the head of the convoy entered Ottawa on the 28th January whilst at the same time the tail of the convoy entered Manitoba nearly 1200 miles away..
This has since morphed into a wider protest movement against, not just the mandates, but all the restrictions and and removal of freedoms that has taken place under the name of the pandemic. Currently if you are unvaccinated in Canada you can’t fly, get on a train, go to restaurants or shops.
The convoy has been named the Freedom Convoy and has been supported by hundreds of thousands of people who have come out to line overhead bridges and along the banking. Now the city of Ottawa is in gridlock. Politicians praying they will all go home at the weekend will I think be taken back by the tenacity of the protesters.
This global insurrection began in earnest in July 2020 and intensified during what was known as Striketober. Now the Canadian truckers are leading the way in the global fight back against the plans of the new world order. It’s catching too. Truckers in Australia and the US are also organising. In Europe the Freedom Convoy is set to verge on Brussels on the 7th February.
Everyone, though, that I have mentioned this too has been in genuine ignorance that this is taking place. Well, we all knew the revolution won’t be televised. If you haven’t yet check out Telegram, it’s been a source of information about the truckers for me. Mind you, you can watch ordinary people's videos uploaded to YouTube and see it for yourself (well until YouTube takes them all down!)
On the 27th January with the truckers descending on Ottawa the Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had contact with somebody with Covid and put himself into self isolation (although this particular rule is no longer required in Canada). Many accused him of hiding. Can we smell fear? He’s subsequently been on air to say the truckers are “a small fringe minority” with “unacceptable views”.
What little coverage this has had in the press, inevitably brings into the picture fascists, white supremacists and extremists. The truckers have gone from being hailed as heroes to domestic terrorists. Even reports they were Russian agents (and linking it to Ukraine!!).
The press also equate vaccine take up to mean support for vaccine mandates. However, this is a false analogy,, there are far too many protesters to only be the unvaccinated for one. Also see interviews with truckers, like Benjamin Dichter who are vaccinated and also believe it shouldn’t be mandated.

I feel like the fightback is warming up. We can all help. Share what’s going on with people around you. If nothing else it exposes the propaganda further. Also if you can give a donation to help out. There was a GoFundMe page that was suspended yesterday but not before it raised $10 million in donations. There is a charity called the Democracy Fund which will be bringing free legal advice to the Ottawa protesters.
