Steeming Community Contest | An angel and a Poor Family

This is the story of Bholanath and Uma. They used to live in a small village called Raidighi. All the people of the village lives in peace and harmony. Bholanath has some land, he is a farmer. They have two children - Goju and Kamala.

The family doesn't have much money. The kids doesn't have new cloths. They rarely have full-meal. However, they doesn't have any complaints. They live happily.

One day, Bholanath is returning from the field after sowing rice. Suddenly he saw an old man sitting beside the banyan tree. He stopped. He asked the old man and came to know the man is going to visit his son in law. But he got sick and so unable to reach his destination.

Bholanath offered the old man to go to his house. He supported the old man to move. Once they reach Bholanath's house, Uma served food to the old man.

The old man finished his meal and asked for more food. Bholanath offered his meal to the old man. The man finished that and still request for more food. Uma served her own meal to the old man. She said, "We believe in athithi devo bhabo - guest is the God". The old man finished that and still was hungry. Both Goju and Kamala offered their meal to the old man.

Suddenly, the old man smiled and disappeared. There is a beautiful young person sitting there. Bholanath, Uma, Goju and Jogu got scared. That young man asked them not to scare. He told them he is an angel and has been sent by the God to fulfill the wish of one family who has no greed. The angel said, no donation is bigger than donating own food to the needy even when you're hungry. He told them to ask for one wish.

Now this start the confusion. Which one to ask for? Long life? Bigger house? Good food? Good dress?

But there is only one wish that can be fulfilled by the angel.

Bholanath has an idea and he asked the angel "I want to see my kids are eating good food wearing good dress inside a big house till my old-age"

"Granted" - the angel disappeared.

Now they are living in a big house..

The kids are having good food..

They also have good dress to wear.

They are living happily ever after.

Moral : Please help the needy as much as you can. Serving the poor is serving the God. Any good work you do is noticed by God and He will reward someday. Miracles do happen.
