Welcome, friend. Thank you for visiting my blog once again. When I saw this topic, my first reaction was to chuckle because it brought back a lot of memories that weren't as funny as when they happened. Since the focus is on the most embarrassing moment of our lives as either a kid or parent, then I will tell you about mine as a kid — I'm not a parent yet. I'm barely up to 18.
👉 Have you ever been embarrassed? Tell us the scenario and how you felt. |
---|
It happened one time when I was asked to prepare the family's evening meal. I had returned home from work quite early and was almost done fixing the porridge when my phone beeped from the other room. It was a message from my boss requesting a review of an assignment she had given me during the day. I got busy trying to organise the document that I forgot that I had a meal streaming on the gas cooker. Just when I clicked the send button, something jerked me to reality and I jumped off the foot of the bed where I sat and rushed to the kitchen. The sight was a mess and the evening meal was ruined. Everyone who walked into the house later still sensed the acrid smell that filled the whole house. I had to give a subtle explanation for the smell which wasn't even satisfactory enough.
👉 Do you think you deserved the embarrassment or it should have been someone else? |
---|
Though it involved my family, the stinging feeling still lingered. That it occurred due to neglect on my part never helped matters get better. Looking back at it now, I remember my struggle to clear the air with an air freshener, my struggle to turn out the residue into a new pot and my struggle to scrub the affected pot clean. And each time I wish that never happened to me in the first place because who plays with fire?
👉 What have you done to avoid such a scenario from reoccurring |
---|
Once beaten, twice shy. That scenario reminded me of the need to always take precautions. Humans are bound to make goofy mistakes but you need to avoid repeating them.
First, I made it a habit never to use my phone in the kitchen. Ideally, I never use it for obvious reasons — to avoid gas explosions and limit distractions.
Second, I stopped taking work home. Once I'm done at the office, the only time I'll respond to any other work-related request will be later before bedtime.
Third, I use those little in-betweens to ideate or make plans for the next day. This way, I don't feel idle or get bored.
Fire accidents have been rampant lately and we can only keep ourselves safe by applying protective measures.
I see you Steemians!
Enjoy the rest of your day!🤍
