"Is it Good To Be Bilingual"

A person is said to be bilingual when the person can speak more than a language fluently. My opinion about being bilingual is that it’s a good thing for someone to be bilingual because of the so many advantages it posses.

As a parent I would like my kids to learn more than a language. While I was growing up in secondary school, we were taught French but it was just for our junior secondary class hence we weren’t able to master the language well. If we had continued learning it till senior secondary class, it would have made a whole lot of difference because now I would be able to speak it fluently but now I can’t.

As a parent, I would really love my kids to learn other languages apart from my native language. Languages such as French, Chinese are more widely spoken and it will give them an edge in this all competitive world.

As a kid I would really have loved to have learnt other languages apart from my mother tongue. I’ve noticed that it’s easier for some people to learn other language easily but I don’t find it easy learning other languages. Maybe because I wasn’t pushed to from a tender age.

The languages I would love to learn includes Chinese mandarin precisely. Chinese mandarin is the most popular language spoken on earth by different tribes , peoples and nations. I would also love to learn French and Spanish.

There are many advantages of being bilingual and they include:

• A bilingual person has an edge than a person who speaks only one language in the place of communication. It removes communication barriers.

• Being bilingual helps one to be able to adapt to a new environment easily.

• Being bilingual can save one from strange people who may want to hurt someone who is a stranger in another land.

• Understanding multiple language helps one to blend into new environment.

• It’s helps to make one make friends easily.

• It could enrich one’s curriculum vitae and give one an edge in a cooperate setting.

• People are more open to people who speak the same language as them. When I go to a new land, I look forward to meeting people who speak my language and I easily blend with them.

• They could open business and investment opportunities to someone and etc.

In conclusion, the world is evolving and one can’t be fine sticking to a language. We should seek to diversify and make the most of the opportunities to be bilingual.
