Hepatitis

Hepatitis is a virus that causes inflammation of the liver. This condition can be caused by various factors, including viral infections, alcohol consumption, certain medications, toxins, and autoimmune diseases. When someone is affected with hepatitis, it can cause damage to the liver.
Over time the liver can become scarred and stop functioning properly. Which may lead to serious complications such as liver failure. In some cases, Hepatitis can be life-threatening and as such we should avoid whatever may lead to contracting hepatitis.

Types of hepatitis

There are five different types of Hepatitis but 4 are commonly found in society and most talked about. We have Hepatitis A, B, C, D and E. I'm going to teach the four main types of hepatitis.

=>Hepatitis A (HAV): Usually transmitted through contaminated food or water, hepatitis A is an acute and self-limiting infection. Vaccination is available for prevention at an early stage.

=>Hepatitis B (HBV): Spread through blood, sexual contact, or from an infected mother to her baby during childbirth, hepatitis B can be acute or chronic. Vaccination is effective in preventing HBV infection.

=>Hepatitis C (HCV): Mainly transmitted through blood-to-blood contact, often associated with unsafe injection practices or blood transfusions. Chronic HCV infection can lead to liver damage over time. There's no vaccine for HCV, but antiviral medications can treat it.

=> Hepatitis D (HDV): This is a rare form of hepatitis that occurs in conjunction with a hepatitis B infection. It tends to make HBV infection more severe.
