my coursemates and I
Dear Diary, the weekend [10th, June] ended well. I created memories and cherished moments although it wasn't an easy one.... It is said that we should; "Rejoice with those rejoice and weep with those weep". I was actually grieving with my coursemate who lost his father in the cold hands of death.
I wasn't an easy thing for him though but we made him smile and have hope of a better future, where he'll see his loved one who died being resurrected as shown in the picture you'll see. This is a diary of how my day went.
Assisting with work at home before grieving with the bereaved |
---|
I woke up as usual by 5:30Am and did my chores as I do feel lackadaisical when the day is way brighter. After doing my chores, my music box accompanied me as I did small yoga exercise to enrich my bones and muscles....After doing that, my family and I examined the scriptures together.
This time, it was on a scripture that touched me deeply. It helped me understand that reliance on Jehovah in all we do is simply the best because he'll actually come in our behalf to aid us. After reading this scripture, I embarked on doing some menial work in our house before actually preparing to attend the funeral.
I skipped my breakfast that morning as I prefer working before eating...I helped the workers pack cement bags for the work they did. After doing so, I decided to press my clothes with an iron as there was light..

Oppressive pictures were dropped in my departmental group of the ongoing event. Davidmarkgeorge surprised me with a picture on nature. I was Impressed by his ability to snap and edit these pictures. I read a thousand meaning to these pictures that I posted them on my status to brighten someone's day.

Having done with all activities at home, I had my breakfast and then prepared to be in attendance although I was late. I arrived there in np Time and thank God I did so in time. As a student of the university of Uyo, he invited his coursemates of which I'm a big part. He gave us a separate canopy to seat and be hosted. We were represented well.
The funeral was a success as the clouds held its gathers and didn't rain. That was where my excitement sprang from because I really needed the sun. Some of my colleagues and I stood side by side him, helping his dish out foods and drinks to his grievers.
I couldn't contain my tears seeing him distressed. I just had to put a smile as shown on the picture below. The smile I wore was enough to make him cheer up. My excitement also sprang from the vast number of people who came to console him and put him back in place academically, mentally and emotionally..... I told him our creator's reassuring words that those who have lost their loved one in death would be resurrected and that's what gives me comfort and hope.

Moments with my senior colleague |
---|
Undoubtedly, my senior colleagues represented the department well. They came out in their numbers. The coordination, love, crazy moments and emotions shared with the bereaved made them a wonderful unit/family. I felt their impact and presence.
My unit as a whole came out in their numbers to console him. That alone told the Masses that he has a family in school that's actually keeping up with him and strengthen him wherever possible.
After the funeral, we ate and drank, shared crazy moments, knew ourselves not just by names and also took pictures.....Guess who I saw there? @uduak3287, @usoro01 and @basil20 were very much present to support and comfort him. I personally forced @uduak3287 to take pictures with him as he's enemies with pictures.....

Someone captured me filling my stomach with what the bereaved gave me. His name is Teacher Mfonobong, fondly called Teacher. I was surprised when I saw this picture on our class group. She captured me when I was gulping......
Crazy moments we had |
---|
I actually witnessed crazy moments by some of my colleagues who felt intimidated in the event. One of them turned off the generator the DJ used in echoing out his loud songs which turned to noise. There was confusion after that incident although it was settled. The villagers tend to attack him but others intervened saying he was trying to do the right thing in the wrong way. That was very crazy though...
We didn't allow that crush our spirits. The generator was later turned on and this time to our favor. They gave us the recognition we expected in that event as ordered by the bereaved. We sang our unistress and unijoy songs to comfort my coursemate and friend....He enjoyed every single moments with us as we were dancing to the tunes of the song played. My smiles couldn't contain me again.
Another crazy moment was the wild dance moves my coursemates took in order to make him forget his pain. Just imagine two of them in the screenshot below. They wept seeing these pictures.

This is a picture of me at last....We were rounding off. Before leaving, I helped the bereaved arrange certain things and put them in place. He was grateful and thankful of my help. On arriving home as it was already late in the night,I dropped a message and video for him to watch the next day so as to diminish some thoughts.....
In conclusion, my departmental president did the finishing touch in behalf of all those present there. I was deeply touched by his words. My day was actually one of a kind. I got to know certain people and also shared best of memories with them..... I chose to make my diary game as long as because every Moments shared reminds me of something.

What a special day!
This is how I want my funeral to be one day, full of fun and laughter. I told my family that if any of them wore black clothes at my funeral, I would haunt them.
I can understand why you say your day was one of a kind.
I am sure your friend appreciates you guys lighting up his day for him.(•ิ‿•ิ)

Saturday was another day I had so many incredible experiences I won't forget in a hurry.
It was sad, it was fun, but most importantly, it's all part of living.
I pray Teacher finds more reason to smile and move on while also praying the departed soul finds eternal rest.
