Hello everyone, trust you'll are doing great. It is another week with another amazing, interesting contest. I really appreciate @eliany for coming up with this wonderful contest of drawing a tortoise.

Material: paper, pencil and eraser

Step 1
Draw the tortoise shell and belly

Step 2
Draw the tortoise head and four limbs

Step 3
Draw the tortoise eye and curves on its limbs to give it a shovel-like design which is use for digging

Step 4 and final stage
Draw broken- separate lines to give it that hard scale on the shell and shade

Describe A Tortoise

---

Tortoise is described as one of the oldest living, slow moving land animal on earth classified as reptile that has a strong shell for protection. It eats foods like flowers, vegetable, greens, fruits and inhabits in natural environment such as deserts, scrublands, wet evergreen forests.

What can we learn from the life style of a tortoise?

---

Tortoise lifestyle is such an interesting one, there are many things to learn from its life style. They include;

• Activeness: tortoise are very active during the day, always isolated and a shy creature.

• Protection: tortoise always pull back inside their head, four limbs, and tail into the shell when temperature is too hot since they stay in arid area(dry land).

• Physical appearance: tortoise have a beak but no teeth and external ears with just two small holes on the sides of the head and colored shell which depicts its origin.

• Behavior: tortoise always like to wander about, digging and holes and feeding on grasses, fruits and other plants.

• Reproduction: one of the tortoise behavior is to dig holes, the female sex of tortoise lays about a dozen(12) eggs inside this hole and hatching of the egg takes an interval of 90-120 days to raise the eggs to a size of a ping-pong ball.

• Life span: Tortoise has been one of the oldest living animal that can be compared to that of human being.

• Habitat: tortoise can live in almost everywhere but mostly on dry lands.

Are they important to man, what significant role do they play in humans life?

Tortoise are important to man as they can be considered as a charismatic pet but one needs to be careful because some specie can grow extremely large and become a threat since they exhibit a behavior of digging hole, this hole can become too large which can be harmful to the owner.

Also, tortoise plays a significant role in human life because of its longevity, they tend to have a strong bond with the owner that has it as pet and can even bring good fortune.

If they are dangerous to man tell us their bad effect

Though Tortoise makes a good pet but can be harmful when hungry when one is hand feeding it which can lead hand biting, the bite can give a temporary infection called salmonella which is a bacteria infection.

Conclusion

---

Tortoise is a friendly animal with unique characteristics of being ancient (the longest living animal) and the shell color despicting its origin. It can be seen in the zoo most times but some keep it as pet in their homes.

The drawing of tortoise has made me know its life style and I know it will help the children too.
