Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. I am excited to join in this week's contest of drawing a crocodile and I want to appreciate @eliany for her seamless efforts in organizing drawing contests.

Describe a crocodile

---

A crocodile is a large semi-aquatic reptile that can live to over a hundred years old, it has a lizard-like appearance and feeds on insects, fish, small frogs, lizards, crustaceans and small mammals. Also, it serves as food(predator) to animals like big cats (jaguars or leopards), and big serpents (anacondas and pythons).
It typically lives near large deposits of salt or freshwater.

What can we learn from the life style of a crocodile, what do they eat ?

Crocodiles are unique creatures among other reptiles, they have many things to learn from its lifestyle and they includes;

• Crocodiles are the biggest reptile on earth, they are semi-aquatic and excellent swimmers.

• crocodile eyes, ears and nose are always high in their skulls, they have 24 very sharp teeth that gives a strong bite than any animal in the world. There bites are strong because its jaws can apply 5,000 pounds of pressure per square inch compared to human that produces 100 pounds pressure per square inch.

• crocodiles are unique animal because they have four chambered heart like humans do. They also swallow small stones to improve digestion.

• Baby crocodile can make noise from inside their egg before they hatch and they are mostly eaten in their first year of life. To determine the gender (sex) of a crocodile is done through the temperature of the egg.

• crocodiles allow their eyes, ears, and nostrils to be above the water surface and sleeps with their mouth wide open.

• crocodile prefers slow moving rivers, swamps and lakes and found in places like Africa, Asia, America and Australia.

• crocodile kill and feed on their prey(food) by drowning them and their food are insects, fish, small frogs, lizards, crustaceans and small mammals.

I haven't seen one in real life but I see them mostly in animal movies.

Are they important to man, what significant role do they play in humans life?

Crocodiles are important to man because they're taken as holy creatures and are worshipped in some regions, and in regions where they're taken as food mostly their hide from salt water are used to make leather products also used as medicines and for decoration.

In addition, majority of crocodiles species are seen as friends to human and doesn't pose as serious danger.

If they are dangerous to man tell us their bad effect?

Some crocodile specie are friendly to man but thet can bite when provoked or surprised. Though there are wild species of it that are potentially dangerous that has been recorded to cause fatal attack or non fatal attack annually.

Conclusion

This is the end of my entry and butressing my points Crocodiles are unique creatures that has long life span of 35-75 years, their hides are very valuable to man in terms of medicine, decorations and in making leather products.
