This is my first post in this community and I am so happy to have started with a topic that is not only going to help educate the members of this community but also this will be a pillar post for any person who is searching for the problems and their solutions on the internet. I hope that the readers find this post and the information in this post to be useful and educative.
In India, millions of children are subjected to various types of abuse
1. Physical Abuse
Children's injuries are often a result of the child being physically abused by members of their family as well as other children or by other people as a result of their interactions with them. It is likely that the situation may have also originated from a lack of interaction with someone in authority, who might have been able to stop it under the circumstances of his position of responsibility, authority, or trust.
The situation in India: There is a high prevalence of abuse in families, and many of these crimes are committed by mothers or fathers. Additionally, physical abuse often occurs in conjunction with forced labor and physical punishment.
How it can be avoided: Giving punishment to kids for their wrongdoings is used by their parents to teach them a lesson so that the child does not repeat the same mistakes. But punishment should never be given in the form of physical abuse. The punishment type can be some kind of restriction being imposed on the child where the child is restricted to play video games for a few days or they cannot use certain things they like the most.
2. Exploitation
Exploited children are those children who are forced to work in the industry as a slave for an employer or as a means of earning money by exploiting them. The two main forms of underhanded treatment that occur against children are child labor used for commercial purposes and child prostitution.
The situation in India: In 2007, a report was released by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) that found that more than 150 million girls and about 73 million boys under the age of 18 were forced into having sexual relationships or engaging in sexually explicit acts. In the same year, the Ministry discovered an extensive incidence of child abuse, primarily affecting children between the ages of five and twelve. You can find the report here
How it can be avoided: It is most likely that the children are out working because parents are not able to find jobs that are going to pay well enough to support the family economically. As soon as their children reach the age that allows them to attend school, most of the children from poor families start working or are forced into sexual activities to earn money. The NGOs can help prevent such a situation by contacting the families of the children themselves and by confirming that the children do attend school and are not being forced to work or are not forced to indulge in any sexual activities. Additionally, the families of those who live in poverty should be guided to find high-paying jobs in their local towns.
3. Neglect
Whenever an individual neglects a child, it occurs when he or she refuses to acknowledge the needs of the child, and in many cases, the child may be intentionally hurt in order to achieve this goal. In addition to failing to meet the child's basic needs, neglect can also include failing to provide the child with adequate protection from harmful circumstances, as well as failing to provide the child with the necessities.
The situation in India: Neglecting a child over a certain period of time can be traumatizing for the child and they may start behaving differently if this situation is not handled for a long period of time. More Indian families are now detached from their extended family members as most of the families now live in the urban cities and also in most families, both the parents have started to work to earn more. This situation is different from the earlier times when families used to live with their extended family in one place where if the parents were busy, the kids were left with the grandparents or their cousins.
How it can be avoided: We are living in the 21st century, where technology has given us so many paths to explore and now people can easily work from home and find other opportunities which help them live closer to their children and their families. The new era and covid-19 have taught us that in most cases, no matter how difficult the job can be, a person can do most of it from home, and even if they have to visit the workplace, the schedule must be set in a way that one parent must stay at home, working from home. This can be done on alternative days to make sure that both parents have their jobs and also the children are also close to their parents.
4. Sexual abuse
Under no circumstances should a child be engaged in sexual activity, no matter how innocent it may seem, and therefore, engaging them in sexual activity or even exposing them to sexual content as a result of engaging them in sexual activity, can be considered abuse. Children who are subjected to any form of child sexual abuse, including pornography, sexual material, prostitution, or any form of sexual activity that involves children, is called Child Sexual Abuse (CSA).
The situation in India: The situation has either worsened or not changed in the past few years. There have been many cases in the past where small-aged or teenage girls were targeted by teenage boys for their dirty desires and the girl was killed after the sexual abuse took place in many cases. I know how much anger must have filled your mind after reading this and how angry you might be feeling. But this situation rose because there was no proper sex education given to the children at the proper age.
How it can be avoided: Proper sex education must be given to children and teenagers at school and they must learn how complex their bodies are and what the chemicals in their brains can do to them. And also co-education of boys and girls should be made mandatory to make children of all ages and genders comfortable with each other.
I have a video that I would like to share with all the readers here. This is a commendable step taken by the Indian Film & Content Industry, where they are trying to educate the audience about the situations we are living in and how important it has become to educate children in the sex subject.
Note: It has English Subtitles.
Although this is just a trailer of the whole series on the same topic, I hope you guys like this video.
Since, the time is going to over soon, I won't be inviting any user for this contest, but in the next contest, I will make sure to participate earlier and invite others to participate too. Thank you so much for reading my post.
The kids in your area are really in danger. Neglect, rape, physical abuse and others are really very bad. The suggestions you have outlined are wonderful measures if they can be applied.
I was able to watch the video. Wow, it is good for the kids to be given sex education from their early stage. Especially when they start asking such questions about sex, that will be a perfect opportunity to educate them.
Thank you for taking part in this contest.

Thank you so much. If you get time to watch the whole series, do watch it. I liked it very much. This is going to be educational for us adults too. In a way it teaches us how we should answer the questions raised by the kids.
