INTRODUCTION

Dear Steemians, I'm happy to be here. I hope you all are doing fine. I'm contesting on the topic that says" friendly environment also makes family bonding". We all have families we come from and either the environment is friendly and conducive or unfriendly and toxic, but whichever one, there are consequences or effects which will later on affect the society at large. A child that grows in a friendly environment ends up being loving and peaceful, also law abiding and socializes but a child who comes from a toxic and unfriendly home will always get involved in conflicts and might end up committing crimes in the society. WHAT EXACTLY IS A FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT

A friendly environment is an environment with a conducive atmosphere where there is freedom to express oneself, there is serenity, peace, unity and happiness. The family members do not live in fear or walk as if they are walking on ice, there is love and support for one another, communication flows freely and listening ear is given, everyone is treated equal. In a family that all these exist, the children and other family members will always feel loved and if they face negativity outside, they don't think twice before running back to the family knowing that warmth, love and supports awaits them at home.

HOW IS FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT CREATED

Friendly environment which leads to family bonding doesn't just start in one day. It's something which takes years and nurturing. For a family to achieve this, first of all, there must have been values in the family.

• A friendly environment is achieved through families spending time with each other, treasuring time over pursuit of money.

• A friendly environment can be achieved through selfless love and support for each other, giving room for mistakes and forgiveness. Forgiveness plays a great part because it is through forgiveness that friendly atmosphere is restored.

• A family that prays together, spends leisure time together, cooks and eats together, go to church or worship together ends up bonding more.

• When family members are encouraged to speak out on what they are going through or how they feel without their feelings being mocked or the members being judged, the bond gets tighter. When there is empathy among family members, friendly environment is created and the bond increases.

• Appreciation and compliments among family members paves way for friendly environment and bond. Correcting a child in love instead of beating the child for his or her mistakes tightens the bonds. Imagine a family where every member dines together, joke and laugh over things and then correction is made, there will be bond, but in a situation where the family member makes mistakes and knowing the family he or she comes from, the toxicity, the name calling and abuse, the person will want to cover up his or her mistake and might end up making more. When the mistake is uncovered by the family members, the way they will treat that person will further widen the bond. A family that lacks friendly environment tends to have more divorce cases, the children end up being aggressive to others in the society and find it difficult to form and nurture relationships. Even if they end up with good partners, they might end up being narcissistic and toxic to their partners.

WAYS A FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT WHICH LEADS TO BONDING CAN BE CREATED IN THE FAMILY

A friendly environment which can lead to bonding can be created in the following ways:

• Through support. When a child or a family supports each other, there is bound to be that bond. The support can be in form of finance, academic, encouragement, etc. People who have abd support each other tend to achieve goals easily. Through treating one family member's problem like everyone's problem while one family member's success is celebrated by all.

• Encouraging words. Instead of backlashing and criticizing pointing out failures, encouraging words should be used on the family members. Words like, "I understand how you feel, I'm sorry you tried but you can do better'.

• Inviting family members over and spending time together. Spending holidays together, doing things during leisure period like playing games, outing to the beach etc, praying together.

When there is a friendly environment in the family, there is much closeness and bond in the family. It makes the family members value the family unit because of the love shared in the family. Family members can easily make sacrifices for each other. The children treasure each other and learn how to resolve issues and they can easily forgive because of the values they were taught. A friendly environment makes a child have self confidence and will easily achieve goals. A friendly environment makes children perform better academically, the family members will live long because there is happiness and peace of mind in the family.
