The Earth is the third of the nine planets of the solar system. The Earth is spherical in shape. It is the only planet which life exist.

HOW THE EARTH ROTATES
The Earth rotates or revolves from West to East along it's axis. The Earth's axis is the imaginary line that passes through its center.
This rotation of the Earth causes day and night.
As the Earth is rotating, the part that is facing the sun is seen as day time while the other part that is not facing the sun is seen as night time and states or countries around that side will be in darkness. Take note kids, it takes 24 hours for the Earth to turn around its axis and this in turn will result to day and night, that is we will have 12 hours day time and 12 hours night time.

THE REVOLUTION OF THE EARTH ROUND THE SUN
As the Earth is moving round its axis, at the same time, it is also moving or revolving round the sun 🌞. Therefore, movement of the Earth round the sun is called revolution of the Earth. Take note please, it will take the Earth 365 days to move or turn round the sun, in other words, it takes the Earth one year to move round the sun. As the Earth is moving round the sun, If you trace the path, you will have a geometrical shape called an ellipse.
