SEC | S11W4- More Freedom

We all want to be free and even babies! Yes, my baby does desire Freedom too, she will go down from my lap to the floor and want to crawl everywhere, and if I tried to carry her, she will cry seriously. This is to show that we are born with the desire to be free, we are free moral agents, that's just the way God created us but our freedom is bound. What do I mean?

God is the only one who has absolute and unlimited Freedom, he is the supreme being and the sovereign one in the entire universe, our freedom is limited, yeah it's governed by God's universal laws, an example of such is the law of gravity. Note there's a difference between limited freedom and bondage, what I meant here is that our freedom is bounded by God's law which is upbuilding, beneficial and recognises Other's rights and opinions thus contributing to true happiness.

God has set a standard of right and wrong for us, he didn't leave it for us to establish simply because he gave us freedom, but then with our free will, we can choose to obey or disobey his instructions. But there's a consequence for them.

I understand freedom to be free will, the right to make choices in matters of life. As a person I enjoyed so much freedom, freedom to choose what I want to eat, and wear, to choose my mate and friends, the type of music I want to listen to and who I want to worship, the list will be long if you added yours. So simply put it's about what I like and dislike, you know "one man's food is a poison to another".

As a parent I have the right to make choices for my children, for example, I choose what they wear, and where they go, they are toddlers so for now I make almost all their choices for them, I used to correct and Discipline them, it is my obligation.

I gave freedom to my kids according to their age and how trustworthy they've proven to be. If they are honest and always sincere, I mean their yes means yes and no No then they will earn more freedom. I always guide my kids to make the right choices, and sometimes I gave them the freedom to make certain decisions, and choices as this will help them to be independent in the future.

Sometimes I used to give my teenage boys the freedom to select their friends, and tell me their reasons for choosing them and they've made excellent choices, to choose what to wear, their music etc, I also made them understand that their freedom is limited and should be guided by God's Law.

Advantages:

• Freedom makes us happy.
• Freedom gives us independent
• We can make choices and have the opportunity to enjoy what we want.

Disadvantages:

Abuse of freedom can lead to infringement of others' rights, slander and even death.

• Lost of trust etc.

Abuse of freedom or using it to please oneself can make someone lose freedom.

Freedom is so important and necessary for everyone! But then we need to exercise our freedom wisely, we don't have to impose our opinion upon others rather we should respect their choices. For example, I love listening to music too much and I'm free to do so, but my neighbour prefers reading quietly, I shouldn't interfere with hers by insisting on playing music so loud that it disturbs my neighbour, forcing her to listen to music involuntarily, I shouldn't impose upon her, Because God's law admonished that I should treat others the same way I would love to be treated. While getting Freedom, we shouldn't abuse it rather we should use it for good.
