This is quite a timely topic. This is the season of giving. This is the season of love. We all have that special someone we would like to give something from our hearts. I am not left out. Let me dive in.

Who do you want to give a surprise gift to and why have you chosen that person?

I want to give a surprise gift to my father. He has been absolutely phenomenal for me this year. He has been very supportive in every aspect to me in school.
Financially my father has been reliable. Many times, fees would come up for me to pay in school, some outrageous, some impromptu. But despite all of that, he still gives me the money.

Everytime I call on him, he responds swiftly. From school fees, to my lodge rent to many others, he has provided on time without delay. Things haven't always been rosy for him financially. In fact, this was a really difficult year for him financially, but somehow, he finds a way to get the money I need for these bills.

In addition to financial support, my father has been very supportive morally. He calls regularly to know how I'm faring in school. He is always there for me. He is someone to rely on. During my exams, he calls to know how it is going, if I'm preparing well enough, if I need any kind of assistance.

What type of gift will you want to surprise the person with?

I would like to give my Dad a brand new laptop as a gift. His laptop got bad some time ago. He used it for a lot of things. He used it a lot to study, he used it for virtual meetings, and many other things. When the laptop got bad, I saw that he was affected. He missed out on a lot of things.

Hence, I decided to get him a new laptop. I know he will appreciate it a lot. A new system will make him really happy. I know he could get himself a new laptop but he has been so focused on settling the bills of my siblings and I that he has been postponing getting a new laptop.

If you are the person given such a gift how will you feel ?

I would feel really elated if I was given such gift. A laptop would really do a lot for me right now. I need a laptop to learn certain digital skills better. I also want to go into graphics designing and I need a good laptop for that. If someone gave me a new laptop right now, I would forever appreciate that person. I would feel very happy and jump for joy.

How often do you intend to put a smile on the faces of people around you in the remaining weeks of the year?

I intend to put a smile on the faces of those around me as often as I can before the year runs out. I don't have much, but the little I have, I am going to give. Most times, I cook and share the food to my neighbors. This time, intend to do that in a larger scale.

I also intend to randomly give money to people around me that I know are really in need. I will try to give out things I have that I may not be using but would be of help to someone else. I also intend to go to orphanages and donate things I can.

If you are to write a goodwill message and have it attached to the gift what will you write?

If I were to attach a goodwill message to the gift I would give my Dad, the message would go like this:
"Dear Daddy, you have been there for me, reliable and supportive from the day I took my first breath until now. You have been faithful. I can't thank you enough for all you keep doing for me. I got you this gift to show my appreciation. Thank you for all you do. I love you."

Conclusion

In these remaining weeks of the year, we should all try to gift something to someone special to us or to those in need. There is no greater joy than seeing someone genuinely smile because of you.
