Greetings all, I want to use this medium and thank @whileponderin for such a nice lesson, physics has always been a nice subject showing us a lot of science facts, so I want to take part in the interesting activity given by the teacher which was about fundamental and derived quantities which is the basics of physics. So I will be answering the four questions we were given as an activity.

Differences between fundamental and derived quantities

What are fundamental quantities: These are those basic quantities which are independent of others, and cannot be derived from other quantities, with these quantities others can be created but you can't use others to create a fundamental quantity which explain the term "independent" of other quantities.
So now unto derived quantity, we can see from the name derived which means gotten from, so we define it this way a derived quantity is a quantity that is gotten from the combination of fundamental quantities. So we can now see the difference between a derived and a fundamental quantity which is, a fundamental quantity are quantities which most(though not all) other quantities depend on while a derived quantity depends on fundamental quantities, so we can see that one depends o the other, while the other doesn't depend on any.

Three examples of fundamental and derived quantities and it's units

Fundamental quantitiesunitsAbbreviation
Lengthmetrem
Masskilogramkg
Timeseconds
Derived quantitiesderivationunits
Forcemass×accelerationNewton (N)
Energy/workforce×distancejoule(Nm)
Electric resistanceohm

what's the difference between scalar and vector quantities

Scalar quantities are quantities which have only magnitude (or size) or numerical values but no direction. Let's understand this definition, temperature is an example of a scalar quantity it can be measured using a thermometer i.e to check how cold or hot smth is but it has no direction .
Vector quantities are those which have both magnitude (or size) and direction. Example velocity is a speed in a specified direction like a tricycle travels to the west at 50kmhr^-1, the direction is stated and it is measured. This is how far I understood this topic.
