Hello dear friends, it feels good to write once again today. In this post I want to update on my fifth day spent in the village. It is actually the last day I will stay here and I'm going to miss everyone here. But I cannot stay back anyway.
Today, I got up from bed very early due to the cold weather. I took a blanket and covered myself and lay down on the bed but didn't sleep again. Later they called us up from bed to inform us that there was no water. The people that use to sell the water were not available and so we need to find where to fetch water. This may mean going to the stream.
Thus didn't sound good to most of us but we had to obey.
Well, we thought of every short cut to get water, we even went to a nearby relative who had tank water in his house but sadly he had returned to town so there was no way for us to get it unless we go to the stream. Now the stream we knew was far away from the house and we feared going to the long distance to fetch the water. But then we saw a woman carrying her bucket to fetch water.
We asked her where she was going and she said she was going to a nearby stream to fetch. She said it was close to our house and so we decided to go with her. But the distance was far from our house. I thought it would be this way because the lady must have gotten used to the distance and from what I've known, there was no river close to our house, if so we would have heard the story. We got there and one of us entered the stream to get the water out for us to carry. We went home with the water and we didn't want to go again. The village road is never straight but filled with gallops. Going up the hill and coming down.

My aunt @ngoenyi said we needed more water and that we may have to go again. But we wanted to have breakfast first, we contested.
They let us have breakfast and we set out to purchase sugar and beans cake for the others.

The weather was so foggy outside due to the harmattan season. I love the weather and the feeling that comes with it and so I like going outdoors in the morning.
When we came back, my aunt said we should get ready to go to the river to fetch water again because the one remaining will not be enough for us. She also decided to come along with us. We strolled down to that river again and this time she got out the water for us.
After fetching water and taking our baths, we strolled down to visit our new friend in their house.
There we met their parents and they asked us where we came from. We explained to them and they were surprised and then told us that we are relatives. They are our step siblings and we never heard this before.
They told us to go to the sitting room and see the picture of our grandfather. Most of us never met him. They said that we all have the same grandfather.
So we went and sat his picture there.
After much discovery we decided to stroll down the village to places we've not been before.
First we got to the football field and viewed people playing football for a while. Then we set out for where we were going.
The village roads are unending, we strolled a very long distance and we even feared if we could return.
We continued moving forward, we passed many places, places we've never even gone before. We kept on moving till we passed a mud house. They said that this may be the only mud house in the village. We went close to it to see how it looks on the inside.
We kept on moving and chatting on the way. We imagined so many things on the way. We even met with an unknown river along the way and some even drank water from it.
It was getting late and we needed to start going home, if not they would be worried about us. We went back with ease, the road wasn't far when returning. This was a bit surprising though. Before getting home, I captured a beautiful sunset which you can see in the picture below.
I enjoyed this adventure a lot. It was so much fun for all of us and we concluded the day by also playing games in the night.
It is the last day I will spend in the village. We would be returning to town.
Thank you dear friends for reading, I hope you enjoyed every bit. See you in the next one.

How many Steemians has your Aunt trained? Building a well would be a perfect project for your community to invest in. I briefly looked at the price to drill a well in Nigeria. It seems to range between 500000 and 3000000 Naira - between $1200 and $7250 USD. You currently earn roughly $1.00 per post. If you committed to one post a day to be used for a drilling project and found 99 other similar people to do the same, you would be able to raise enough money in a couple of weeks to a couple of months.
It might be possible to ask the Korean Community to have its members create a single post each. They have over six thousand members. A single post each would drill a well. You might discuss this with your Aunt.

This is a nice idea to pursue. My village really need a well but in form of borehole. They have one at the village square but they certainly need more. Even though we are surrounded by water, fetching them for use is surely tedious. Can we plan it very well and execute it under the umbrella of skids-charity? Let's talk in discord

We can try to connect on discord, but I will be in and out all day.
I am assembling some thoughts on the subject, and lack of accessible clean water is a symptom of something larger. I am sure you are familiar with giving a man a fish, and he will eat for today. Teach a man to fish, and he will eat for the rest of his life.
You are an excellent example of that principle. The day before someone introduced you to Steem, you looked at the world a certain way. Now (I hope), you can see a world of endless possibilities.
