Ducks also known as waterfowl are birds which are specifically identified as Anas Platyrhynchos.
They are often found around water, in ponds and marshy areas, they come in a variety of beautiful colours.

Ducks make a unique sound known quacking.
We have Dabbling Duck, Diving Duck, Eider, Goldeneye duck and Domestic Ducks. I will really love to talked about our African Domestic Ducks. They may not be as elegant as other ducks but they are still cute birds with their red face with black and white feathers and some feathers that changes colour from green to blue.

Our local ducks are often seen with their Bill in water or mud, filtering out insects and feeding on worms, insects, small amphibians, and small molluscs.

The are kept for food and for their large eggs. If sold they would be a good source of income and has its nutritional value for man.
Some keep ducks as pets at home.

I remember being chased by ducks protecting it's ducklings, and unlike most domesticated birds, ducks can fly and stay airborne for along period of time.
To avoid being picked up by predators, young ducklings swim and stroll in a group and are always close to their mother.
In most cases, with the local ducks, both the hen and the drake protects their duckling.

Not directly but if allowed to walk freely, their dropping could be a vector for diseases. So you can be infected with psittacosis from a duck carrying Chlamydia psittaci. Other diseases you may get from ducks are Avian Influenza, Salmonella, Campylobacter, Colibacillosis, Eastern Equine Encephalitis.
When protecting their ducklings, they can be very aggressive so stay off and keep your kids away.

When we were young, it was often said that if you should cover a duck in a drum, it will become a snake and crawl out of it.

Needed items for the drawing
To draw the duck, I make use of the following items:
• An A4 plain sheet
• A pencil
• A sharpener
• An Eraser

The plain A4 paper is used as my canvas, drawing and shading will be done using a pencil which will need a sharpener and an eraser to clean errors

Step 1

I started with a light sketch of the ducks head an a little down it's neck.

Step 2

At this point, I drew most of the ducks outline structure, one oof it's leg, down to its tail.

Step 3

Now I had to add it's second leg, it's wing and added some details to it's eyes.

Step 4

I now went into shading and started shading from the head down.

Step 5

The duck at this point is completed and i will be taking a selfie with the duck.
