Drawing a Pressing Iron

I love drawing contests and the more I participate, the better my sketches become. For this contest, I was position between two options, my old Philips iron or the new Binatone steam iron. After some considerations, the old Philips iron had the day. The iron has plenty of history, it could be as old as myself if not older. It was the beginning of my creativity and confidence.
The iron was important to my parents and they had tryed getting it fixed but was said to be beyond repairs. A physics lesson on filaments sparked an idea and I got the iron fixed. Today after many years, the iron is now used on a gas stove to press when there is no electrical power.

What do we need?

To draw the pressing iron, we will need the following drawning items and a place with a measure of comfort to facilitate the drowning process.

Item Qty Description
A Guide 1to look and draw
Nokia C301Capturing the steps
A4 Paper1used as a canvas
A Pencil1for sketching
An Eraser1for cleaning errors
The Procedure

I had to place this sample as my guide. Though some parts of the iron is missing, I will try reconstructing it in my sketche. I also had a though time settling with which angle to draw.

Step 1

I started the drawing with an empty sheet of paper bearing today's date and my username at the bottom right corner of the page.

Step 2

I started with the regulator nub on the iron. Drawing it from the angle of perspective will make it look more like an elips.

Step 3

Then came the handle. Often made out of a poor conductor of heat just to make sure the heated iron is not felt at the handle.

Step 4

I now tookup the base of the iron. The housing that holds the filament and regulator.

Step 5

At step five, I was taking care of shading and details.
