Weekly Drawing Challenge week4: Draw a Chicken

It's another exciting week of drawing.

This week's drawing Challenge organised by @ngoenyi is one of my favourite because I love eating chicken and I also love friends egg as well as boiled eggs.

Infact I'm in for any food that has chicken tagged to it. You see this beautiful chicken below is my own entry for the contest.

It's is very important to clear your table off things that are not needed when you want to make use of it for drawing.

• You place your drawing materials on the table. The materials we used were: *
  A4 paper
  Pencil
  Crayon
  Projector for cycling
  Eraser

Then you start making a light sketch of your drawing, followed by double sketching

And then you can add colour if you wish. We coloured our chicken with a red and an orange colour

Describe a Chicken

The appearance of chickens is rounded and squat. Females are known as hens, while males are known as cocks or roosters. Their combs are fleshy, and they have lobed wattles hanging below the bill, as well as high-arched tails. Some roosters have tails that can grow to be over 12 inches long.

What do you like about a chicken

1. They are Very Clean
   Dust bathing is a method by which chickens clean themselves. Their feathers are waterproofed thanks to an oil gland on their back. The oil, however, becomes stale over time, and the chickens must dust bathe to remove it. Chickens enjoy dust bathing together on a daily basis to keep their feathers waterproofed, conditioned, and tidy. It also keeps their skin healthy and repels parasites.

2. They have long term memory
   Even after being separated for long periods of time, chickens can recognize over 90-100 different individuals.

Have you seen one before? If yes, where?

Yeah, Chicken is a popular domestic animal in my locality, they are everywhere in my neighborhood and they poo indiscriminately which can be really annoying especially when you mistakingly step on it.

Are they important to man?

Oh yes! They are very important to man.

• They serve as a source of food and also a good source of protein, be it the flesh or their eggs.

• They provide means of livelihood for individuals doing poultry Business and provides jobs for people.

• They can also be used as pet. This reminds me of my lovely Gladys, my sweet little chick.(one of the birds in my mum's poultry farm)
