Contest Alert: How Is The weather ☁️ Condition In Your Locality and How Do You Prepare Yourself and your family for Natural Disasters?

Hello fellow steemians,how are you all doing,I hope you all are fine.i thank you all for being partakers of my humble submissions In this platform and I am so grateful for appreciating and accepting my humble ideas ,thank you all.i am also very thankful to this community for bringing up this contest.

What is the weather condition in your locality and how does it affect people's activities?

The weather condition In my locality these past few months have been quite rainy and cold,it rains at least 4-5 times in a day and they are heavy rains which causes run off water to accumulate in ditches and gullies which overflows and causes minor flooding.

These minor flooding manages to enter people's home , causing people to engage in scooping about water from their rooms in order to make it habitable again,one notable profession of people leaving around my vicinity is trading,and this weather conditions affect the commercial activities.Traders can no longer sample their wares because of frequent rains.

While it rains,shops and business centers are closed down.children of school age cannot go to their schools because of the weather conditions which results in poor turn-up in schools,vehicles can no longer confidently ply the roads, which results in vehicles breaking down in water-filled ditches.

People who live in my vicinity and who do business in other part of the town are forced to fold their trousers to knee level and put on heavy rain coat in order to move in the rain so as to have access to their various business centers and stores.

The heavy rains in my vicinity has also destroyed infrastructure such as electricity which had been in very low supply In recent times.major roads are all damaged in my vicinity leaving the environment water-logged and unhealthy.

Generally,the frequent rains have reduced commercial and social activities in my vicinity almost to zero point,it has also increase the incidence of diseases like malaria, dysentery and typhoid fever, because of the unhealthy and unsanitary conditions created by the rain.

Do You think there's a possibility to cause a Disaster, if Yes how are you preparing for it?

Yes,there is a possibility of it causing a disaster if the rain keep falling at the rate which it is falling now.some precautionary measures have been taken by myself to prevent and protect ourselves from the possibility of a flood disaster.

First,members of my family after conferring with each other decided that we fill sacks which we used in covering the ditches around my home.these sawdust filled sacks sucks up the water or drains the excess water to avoid creating much flood.

Round my home,we have hipped sand bags measuring about 3 to 4 feet to keep out flood

Thirdly,we created a part way by carefully digging a terrace near the sand bags.this is a pathway by which run-off water can find its way into the nearby bushes when it rains.

We have also constructed with cement, a barrier in front of every door facing the room measuring about 12-15 inches so as to keep out rains from finding it's way into the doors.

As a last resort to protecting ourselves from the flood, members of my family have an emergency bag packed for each person for immediate evacuation to less flood prone areas in case these precautionary measures did not work or prove ineffective

Conclusion

In order to have a less folding or disaster free ,we need to apply immediate precautionary measures just like these above.Disasters like flood,fire outbreak can all be prevented only when good decisions and precautions are made wisely.
