Steemit Engagement Challenge S6/W1 - The Joy Of Parenthood.

Greetings

Hello great and wonderful steemians, what a privilege it is for me having been invited by coupled of fellow steemians to participate in this great contest organised by the admin Steemkidss. The dream of every married couple is to have a child or children of their own, and coupled with the fact that children are what ensure the continuity of life on earth as the creator want it. The joy that comes with having a child or children is sometimes unexplainable, no wonder those who are yet to have children always pray to have one. Stay tune and read on as I share with you my view on the joy that children bring to their parents.

What joys are experienced by parents for becoming parents?

As rightly earlier mentioned, it's difficult most times to express in totality in words the joy and the feelings parents experienced upon becoming a parent. We often time see parents shading tears out of joy that stems from the bottom of their heart, as much as they could not hold it, they gave way to tears. Hence, the intensity of the joy of seeing a new born infant in their hands get some confused about where and how to start expressing this joy. Children are gift from God, so having one is a testimony of God's gift, that also increase the velocity of the joy parent experience.

What does this joy prompt them to do for their kids and to what extent are they ready to carry out their responsibilities towards their kids?

As a wicket imperfect humans, not minding the state of our imperfection, we do go to a great extent to take care of the child or children we cherish and love out of the joy in our heart. The joy we experience for being a parent move a parent to make any sacrifice to see that the child is cared for. This includes our time, resources and money.

The joy that parents have for their child/children prompts parents to go out of their comfort zone to:

• provide shelter
• provide clothing
• provide nutritional food
• pay school fees
• pay their medical bills
• help them socialize with wholesome associations in the society
• provide spiritual training and upbringing among other things.

As a matter of fact, whatever affects the children also affect the parent deeply, that is why parent out of joy are ready to lay down their lives for their children.

Does this joy increase as the child grows? What can contribute to the joy parents experience?

The answer to this question is both "Yes" and "No". The reason is simply if the child continue in the right path or turn the opposite. But as a parent, the joy should increase seeing the child grow and form part of the larger society.
Apostle John in 3 John 4 says: "No greater joy do I have than this: that I should hear that my children go on walking in the truth." So if the children choose to go on in things that are well spoken of, it will contribute to the joy the parent have, and they will feel fulfilled.

Do you wish to be a parent or are you already one? Do you expect the same joy or are you already experiencing joy as a parent?

Yes I am a parent. As such I am experiencing the joy of being a parent in different ways I can never imagine. There are times you may be in a bad mood, but just remembering what a child say or did that makes you smile may suddenly change your bad mood to good. When the child does well in school and you hear good report from the school, it makes your joy increase and you feel as if your head swell up beyond its normal size. Children cement the bond of love in the family. In fact, it is nice having them around.

What hopes of happiness do you want as a parent for your child later?

The hopes of happiness I want as a parent for my child/children years later are unexplainable. I wish my children to have far greater joy in all ramifications in life than what I am having now. It is always a good thing to see the children doing greater exploit than what their parents did. It will contribute to my joy, and subsequently increase my life span to live and eat the fruitage of my labour.

Conclusion

I conclude by sharing the sentiment of the Psalmist who said in Psalm 127:3-5 "Look! Sons are an inheritance from Jehovah; The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a mighty man, So are the sons of one’s youth. Happy is the man who fills his quiver with them. They will not be put to shame, For they will speak with enemies in the city gate."

So as a joyous parent, it is a privilege to receive these wonderful gift as an inheritance from God, and I want to fill them in my quiver and inspire them to greatness and then experience the joy of being a good parent.
