Writing Contest: "Indeed It Was A Blessing In Disguise"/100% powered up

Hello my friends. A wonderful day to you all. Hope our weekend was well spent. Great to see the light of today.

I will be participating in the contest of @goodybest entitled Indeed It Was A Blessing In Disguise.

Life has so many challenges. It never goes straight forward. Sometimes too some disappointments we experience might result in permanent blessing for a person just as the contest title goes.

I am going to tell a real life story of a friend who had the same experience, initially, it pained him so much, but at the end, he was grateful things turned out the way it is.

A friend of mine had a girl he started dating right immediately after the girl finished secondary school.

The young man was in his mid 20's but was fortunate to have been a millionaire at that age. He was also living a simple and clean life not affected by the youthful exuberance of his age. He was really interested In marrying the girl and made his intentions known both to the girl and her family.

However, he was close to the girls family and assisted them in various capacities. The young man even decided to send the girl and her elder brother to the university. He gave them money to apply for jamb, which they took and was successful with. They now got admission in University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

The young man wanted to build a beautiful foundation for his future family and assist the girl's family to take care of themselves. Everything was moving well till the girl was in her 4th year in school which was her last year.

All of us can imagine how much the guy must have spent in training this girl and her brother over these years.

During her last semester, the young man started noticing some behavioural changes in the lady. She avoided the long chats they normally enjoy, claiming she was over busy with school projects and all the rest. But anytime she needs money, she is free to chat.

He complained to the parents and all the parents could say was that she is an adult that will take her own decisions. The young man left them not knowing that they were aware of what was happening.

This went on for some weeks, and we advised our friend to pay her a visit in the school. When the man got to the hostel where the girl had told him she is staying, no one there knew her identity. All efforts to reach proved abortive and then he had no other option than to see her at one of the lecture halls for her course.

She was surprised to see him and then things turned the other way round. The girl vehemently told him that she was no longer interested in him and moreover what did he do that other men cannot do for her?

My friend was shocked and tried to persuade her on changing her mind, but it was obvious her mind was made up already. So he came back and was very dejected. We rallied around him as friends. He really passed through serious emotional pain. It was not just the money he had invested in her, but the emotional bonding they shared. Also note he never had any form of carnal knowledge of the girl. He preserved that till after marriage.

After some months, my friend picked up the pieces of his life once more.

The lady finally got married to another man, we all attended her wedding. Few weeks after the wedding, the marriage disintegrated.

The lady's husband said that everything that he knew about the girl and the family were all lies. Additionally, so many revelations started coming in about the girl while in school. She lived a debased form of life in school and the parents were aware of it. She was no more that innocent young girl my friend knew years ago and lived a double life.

She felt the money my friend was giving to her is now small as she can get more than that from other young men whom she felt was more loaded than him. That lifestyle led her into so many things which can break a marriage in the future.

That exactly happened and the husband filed for divorce in the court, bundled her back to her family and told them he is no more marrying her. The divorce finally went through since it took only 3 months after there marriage

On the other hand, my friend entered into another relationship and is happily married today with 2 kids. The wife is truly a lovely woman and a wife every man would itch to come back to everytime .

Some few weeks days ago, I and that my friend had a little outing and we remembered what happened in the past. It was then obvious to him that what happened was just a blessing in disguise, since he would have ended up marrying a baggage of waste.

He is ever so grateful to this friends for being there for him and giving him great advice.

So Indeed it was a blessing in disguise

Not all disappointments are bad. When such happen we should look beyond the small picture to the bigger one.

It is either there are positive things we can learn from the events and it may help is to develop qualities which we never had. Others too may save our life if it had not happened.

Thus some disappointments can be a blessing in disguise
