Wednesday – What is the correct sentence? – Mini contest #13

Hello SteemKids and Parents!

Today we are going to learn all about “silent letters.”

Silent letters are letters that appear in a word but aren’t pronounced. They can change the way a word is spelled without affecting how it's spoken. So often they can be very confusing but at the same time also entertaining.

For example, the “a” in bread, and then the “b” in “bomb,” the “c” in “muscle,” and just like that, we can go down the alphabet for examples.

Why Do We Have Silent Letters?

1. Many silent letters come from Old English or are influenced by other languages (like French and Latin).
2. As pronunciation evolved, some letters became silent while the spelling stayed the same.
3. Then we have those wonders where silent letters actually help us to distinguish between similar words, like “there” and “their.”

Silent letters can certainly add complexity to English, but they also make English rich and interesting.

It is time for the results of contest #12.

The contest

I am going to give you a scrambled sentence that you must unscramble. In other words, by using all the words, you must place the words in the correct order so that they form a sentence that makes sense.

How to participate?

• You can reply to this post by posting your sentence, or you can write a quality post of 300+ words with the sentence in it. By writing a post, you can double your earnings if you are a winner.
• You can only enter once

What is up for grabs?

The first correct answer will take home 6 STEEM and if you have written a post I will double the winnings and you can take away 12 STEEM.

Just to be fair, the correct answer is send to the admin of the community prior to the start of the game.

The sentence and the winner will be announced next week on Wednesday; therefore, make sure you don't send in your answer later than Tuesday 23:59 UTC.
If there is no winner, the prize will increase by 2 STEEM each time until there is one.
