Wednesday – I spy with my little eye – Mini contest (17)

in hive-139765 •  2 years ago

It's Wednesday!

Time for another "I spy with my little eye game".

Now, I don't know if I am making the games too easy or if you guys are getting too clever as we have a winner!

Before I tell you who the winner is let's take another look at last week's clues;

Clues:

1. It is a 10-letter word
2. It is a compound word
3. It combines two tools
4. Operators wear protective gear

And the answer... JACKHAMMER!

A jackhammer operates by driving an internal hammer up and down.
The hammer is first driven down to strike the chisel and then back up to return the hammer to the original position to repeat the cycle. The effectiveness of the jackhammer is dependent on how much force is applied to the tool.
From Wikipedia.org

Well done @ahbaz! You were indeed the first Steemian to comment with the right answer.

What I have learned is that there are three different types of jackhammers.

  1. The normal jackhammer that is driven by air
  2. The hydraulic jackhammer that is driven by liquid
  3. The electric jackhammer that is driven by electricity

Time for your next game!

The game is exactly like last week;

The game “I spy with my little eye” is sort of a detective game. The “spy” is the person who sees something and the rest of the players must then guess what the spy is seeing.

Of importance, it must be something that you can see and not something you can feel like an emotion.

BUT, “I spy with my little eye” is so much more than just a spy game;

  • It is a thinking game
  • It teaches you how to use your logic and reasoning and
  • It grows your vocabulary

1. It is an 11-letter word

For this week's spy game, the answer is MARSHMALLOW.

The name Marshmallow is gotten from the MALLOW PLANT (Althaea officinalis), a herb native to parts of Europe, North Africa, and Asia.
According to Wikipedia, Marshmallow is a type of confectionery that is typically made from sugar, water and gelatin whipped to a solid-but-soft consistency. It is used as a filling in baking or normally molded into shapes and coated with corn starch.

The marshmallow plant has a history of use in herbal medicine. However, when mixed with something sweet, the sap of the plant made for a natural ingredient in making confections.

Marshmallow starts with M and is derived from a plant, mallow. It is soft and airy and can be roasted or used as a filling in baking.

And now... .now it is a lloongg wait until Wednesday (•ิ‿•ิ)
