This contest have pave a way for me to tell a bit about my life experience although I’ll not dive deep. Using my little writing experience, I believe that my entry will creat an impact in the mind of my reader.

Typically, there are various forms of child abuse that are prevalent in my locality. The abuse have lead to several impact in the life of the victims since the day that they where subjected to it.
Below are the forms of child abuse in my locality;

Child Sexual Abuse

This is a come form abuse that occurs regularly. This abuse can be defined as the crime of subjecting a child (which is always regarded as a minor) to sexual act which includes rape and child prostitution etc. This abuse can be done by random adults, senior relative as well as house maid. Although girl child dominate been the victim of this form of abuse but male child are not an exception too.

• Child Sexual Abuse in Nigeria: The country is facing a great challenge of rapid growth in the rate of child sexual abuse. Every months, lot of mens are jail or severely penalize for committing the offense.
  Recently, an 11 years old put to birth after a hard labor as a result of been a victim of sexual abuse (rape). Even religious leaders are victim of accusations. Although some are false accusations but it’s sardonic that many are always guilty after a thorough investigation.
  Furthermore, the have several report about children that are been sexually abuse by their step-father, uncles and even biological fathers too.

• How this abuse can be avoid: The most important step in avoiding this abuse is by educating children about the effect of been victim of sexual abuse, negative effects of teen sex etc. This will help the child gain further awareness of the aftermaths, hence ensure that they are not lured into such act by any perpetrator using any technique.

• Right now, government have done a great efforts on attempting to eradication it. Websites such as WARIF and a hotline have been added to the website. This saves as a quick link for victims to reach out for assistance immediately.
  

Child Psychological abuse

This is the most trending form of abuse around the world of which my locality is not an exception. Personally, I’ve been a victim of this abuse. This abuse are triggered by several people but most times, parents tend to dominate.

I can recalled vividly the psychological abuse i was subjected to when couldn’t maintained a first position for a year (3 terms session). This abuse includes calling of victim various provoking names etc. It is pathetic that many people don’t take this abuse serious. Every day, the number increases. Most children have lost appetite because of been compared with their peer that outshine them in a particular task etc. Children that are abuse base on their looks have lost confidence in appearing in a public gathering.

• Child Psychological abuse in Nigeria: This is common in Nigeria. Many Nigerian parents like saying painful word to their children as a result of any failure that they encounter. Although there is no research statistics on the number of victims and gender rate, it is believed that the rate is high in Nigeria because at 3 of every 5 people interviewed have testify to been a victim.

• How it Should be avoided: Minding the words that we say to children no matter their situation is number one step to kickoff. Children should be advised to disregard abusive words that their peer say to them and also do way from such friend as well. This will be reduce the rate gradually.
  

Child exploitation abuse (child trafficking)

Apparently, many people justify that slave trade have end but technically viewing it, the pathetic action is ongoing. In the name of been house help, various children (especially girls) are transported to another environment and lured into hard labor which includes regular hawking etc.

• Child exploitation in Nigeria: Although the rate in Nigeria have reduce due to civilization but yet, many rural dwellers are trick into visiting an urban area with hope of greener pastures but only a very few number have been opportune to actualize their dreams while others remain victims.

• How it can be avoid: The ultimate solutions to this is in the hands of parents. They should avoid pushing their children to such situations no matter the financial challenges. Even if they children involves in hustling to support the family, it should not be a stressful task.
  Parents should ensure that they always visit their children that are staying with relatives in order to know the state of their well being.
  There should be a law that punish perpetrators severely.
  

Negligence

This form of child abuse is commonly initiated by men than women. Men are form of refusing to shoulder their responsibility of taking care of their children needs there by exposing them to various pathetic challenges which is considered as an abuse. Both male and female children suffer this form of abuse.

• Negligence in Nigeria: The rate of this form of abuse is unbelievable. Children that have stepmothers are the one that suffers this abuse more. Everyday, the rate keep increasing daily.

• How to avoid it: Men should ensure that they don’t forget their responsibility to their children.
  Church leaders should also be conscious about the way their members threat their children therefore intervene in any neglect of duty that they may notice.
  Government should creat a law to enforce responsibilities.
