what are Bitcoin, Altcoins and Stablecoins? Explain them under separate subheading and list at least three examples of Altcoins and Stablecoins.

According to history, Bitcoin is the first crypto currency. Nobody knows the person or people than programmed Bitcoin but the anonymous person or people claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto, a name that is considered by many to be a pseudonym.

Unlike a fiat currency, Bitcoin protect it data in a server called blockchain which doe not have a central control. Datas in the blockchain are protect through the help of cryptographic algorithm code. The process of recording the transaction in the blockchain is called mining.

When a block is successfully mine to Bitcoin blockchain, it is automatically encrypted and can not be altered by anyone. Anybody can become a miner provided the person have a node and the blockchain is accessible to everyone.

Bitcoin was less than a dollar but broke a record of reaching $20,000 in 2017 and $100,000 last year before fluctuating back.

The acronym for Bitcoin is BTC. Bitcoin can be purchased from online agent or friends and sale as well. Bitcoin is stored in a wallet. This wallet can be hot or cold wallet.

Using Bitcoin as an exchange is accepted by many people but till today, the government of some countries still restrict it usage including my country (Nigeria).

The complete name is an alternative coin.
There are 100s of crypto currencies. All this crypto currencies are called Altcoins because they are crypto for people that have an alternative of not buying Bitcoin alone.

Furthermore, some of this crypto currencies are Forks of Bitcoin blockchain while others are created by professional developers.

Below are examples of Altcoins;
Dogecoin
Shiba Inu
Bitcoin gold
Uniswap
Steem

Stablecoins

They are coins that their values are merge to another asset. The assert determines their values. If the asset value reduce, the coin automatically follows it. This coin can be regarded as the crypto currency version of the asset that they are in relation.
Examples of Stablecoins are; Dai, Binance USD, True USD, TerraUSD, Digix Gold Token etc

Do you prefer Stablecoins to other cryptocurrencies or otherwise? Why? You can explain with Joe and Jane’s illustration given in the lecture

I prefer Stablecoins. Stablecoins is good for long term saving because it price remains stable. In other crypto currencies, a coin owner can encounter lost at anytime when the price goes down.

Furthermore, Stablecoins owners have lower risk of lost than other crypto currencies.

Examples:

Just a month ago, Mr Joe made profit from his other crypto currency. Miss Jane did not since her asset is a Stablecoin. But just weeks ago, Mr Joe asset value drop massively because the value have drop. On the other hand, Miss Jane assert is still stable. Had it been Mr Joe used Stablecoins, his money would have remain the same amount.

People save their money on Stablecoins can redraw their money at anytime without lost. When the value drops, other crypto currencies owner have to wait till the value hike again.

Conclusion

Saving money in crypto currency is the best because of it mobility. Banks have a maximum amount and time for redraw but any amount of crypto currencies can be transferred globally without any restrictions.
