SEC17 WK:#1: Forgiveness unites family

Topic of the contest is need of the time and thought provoking. I share my views on the topic and look forward to reading from fellow steemians.

Forgiveness is a very positive quality. To me, forgiveness means accepting that all individuals have different tendencies and attributes. One person cannot be like the other person. Even siblings do not exhibit the same qualities. Likes and dislikes of even twins are different from each other. So if in a single family there is so much diversity of all the traits, we can imagine how different people from outside will be from each other. So when we accept the fact that people have different tendencies and attributes we learn to accept all contacts with their weaknesses and strengths.

Is forgiveness a sign of weakness?

In my opinion forgiving people and asking for forgiveness from people is a strength that not all people possess. Only the gifted people know the worth of forgiveness. When we accept the fact that not all people are the same and not everyone can behave in the way that we expect them to behave then it is very easy to let go the ill feeling and forgive. And asking for forgiveness is a also a gift from Almighty Allah , here we confess our mistakes and we see problem within ourselves. Which again is a situation that shows that we want to change ourselves. In both the cases the concept of forgiveness or asking for forgiveness it carries positive connotation for me.

Incident from the life of Holy Prophet PBUH

Once Holy Prophet PBUH was in the company of two of his companions , Anas bin Malik and Abdullah bin Umar, a person came to visit Holy Prophet PBUH and knocked at the door. Holy Prophet told his companions that go and open the door for the one who is undoubtedly promised heaven. When the person came in , he sat with Holy Prophet and asked him questions about Holy Quran. Next day again there was someone on the door. Holy Prophet said the same words that go and open the door for the one who is undoubtedly promised heaven. Same person was there , he came in and asked about details of Holy Quran. On the third day again same person came and Holy Prophet said the same words for him.
Abdullah bin Umer was curious to know the reason of such good words about him. So he requested that person that I would like to be your guest for three days. That person took Abdullah bin Umer to his home. Abdullah bin Umer narrates that in those three days, I did not notice any special act from this person. That person would just perform obligatory prayers and nothing else. So after three days Abdullah bin Umer asked that person that what acts he performs which has made him a confirmed dweller of heaven from this world. That person replied that when I sleep at night I assess my heart and mind and make sure that both my heart and mind are clear from ill feelings. I forgive all and clear my heart from all ill and negative feelings.So this is worth of forgiveness and asking for forgiveness.

Personally I have experienced that forgiving wipes away all the negative feelings and makes us work with more positive energy.
