Hello everyone, beautiful morning to you all. I hope you all slept well? Welcome back to my blog. Today I will be talking about child abuse, highlighting the forms, symptoms, effects and solutions to it.

DEFINITION
Child abuse according to Oxford dictionary of advanced learning is the crime of harming a child in a physical, sexual or emotional way.

FORMS OF CHILD ABUSE
Physical abuse: This is a type of abuse in which physical injury is inflicted upon a child by an adult. This can come in form of beating, hitting, kicking, bitting etc. The end result is bruises and injury.

Emotional abuse: This is a form of abuse which damages a child's self esteem. It involves constantly insulting, shouting, humiliating a child. It can also come in form of making jest about their body, and general looks, especially the ones they can't change.

Sexual abuse: This type of abuse occurs when a child is sexually molested by an adult.

Child Neglect: This occurs when a child is denied the three human basic needs which is shelter, food and clothing. It can also come in form of inadequate parental care and guidance.

SYMPTOMS DISPLAYED BY AN ABUSED CHILD.
The child is always sad.

Inferiority complex.

The child is always withdraw from friends and social gathering.

Sudden behavioural change.

Attempting suicide or harm.

Insomnia and constant nightmares.

Bruises

Sexual Transmitted Diseases.

Genital pains.

EFFECT OF ABUSE ON A CHILD
The child might attempt commiting suicide.

Inferiority complex and low self esteem.

It can result to harming oneself.

Depression

Anxiety

Constant fear.

SOLUTION TO CHILD ABUSE
Children should be educated on their fundamental human rights.

Parents and guardians should pay constant attention to their children to discover when their is a behavioral change.

Cases of abuse should be treated urgently.

Awareness program should be created for children to know when they're abused and how to speak out.

CONCLUSION
Child abuse is a regular phenomenon in our environment. The abuser can be a neighbor, a colleague, family member or even trusted adults. Parents and guardians should pay constant attention to their children to know when they're being abused.
