INTRODUCTION
As a nursing mother, caring for a baby can be most challenging especially for the first timers.
Ranging from mid-night cries, twitching and stretching intermittently to post immunization fever. Babies being unable to express themselves in words most times uses cries to tell someone closeby that something is wrong with them and knowing what to do at such times can be a big relief both to the baby and the caregiver.
Always talk to an health professional and avoid trying several options offered by others whom you think are more experienced as baby to baby differ in growth and response. Do not try things you are not sure of on your baby and if you do, monitor for reactions within 24 to 48hours.
Always have your thermometer to check their temperature and if available a weight scale. Regularly monitor their system in response to food, sleep pattern or even defecation.
However, having some of these medications handy can save you a lot of stress.
Acetaminophen also called paracetamol to take care of post immunization fever, pain and mild inflammation.
Ascorbic acid also called vitamin c helps to boost their immune system and speed up wound healing incase of circumcision.
Diaper rash can be handled using mild triple action lotions such as tribotan, epiderm or clotrimazole. A calamine combination may be of benefit if well tolerated.
Colic is one of the most common discomforts for infants because of the modulations in their wind pipe as they tend to take in air during breastfeeding, it often wear away but the pain can be reduced using infacol.
CONCLUSION
Every stage of growth for a child comes with its own discomforts and differs from child to child or from gender to gender, being prepared by having important information about them can help reduce the stress that comes with it as you would know what to do at most times and it sure gladdens one's heart to have a healthy baby and watch them grow to amazing beings like ourselves or even better.
Hope you find this helpful. Comments and questions are welcomed.
Happy baby, Happy mother!
