Hello everyone,
I welcome us, especially to the last week of the steemit engagement challenge contest for season number 3. We are in the fourth and final week of this season's engagement challenge and I'm so delighted to present my entry in this very week's contest. This week we are looking at a topic titled Childhood or adulthood, which do you prefer? Here in this blog, I will be giving my opinion on the said topic using the questions below. Let's get started.

This week we are looking at a topic titled Childhood or adulthood, which do you prefer? Here in this blog, I will be giving my opinion on the said topic using the questions below. Let's get started.
Who is considered as a child in your country? Include age.
The word childhood has no universal definition because countries all over the world have their definition of what they consider childhood. Many authors and scholars have tried to define childhood based on their understanding and that is why Philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau considers childhood as someone between the time of his birth to when he or she gets to the age of twelve.
In my little understanding, I see childhood as the period between when a boy or a girl is born till the period they attend adulthood. Now, according to my country constitution's, a boy or a girl remains a child until he or she reaches about 18 years of age. Recall I have said earlier that countries have their range of periods where a child gets for them to call an adult. This means any boy or girl below the age of 18 here in Nigeria is a child.
Therefore childhood here in my country ranges from 1-17 years old. Once a person gets to 18 years he is no longer in the category of childhood, he has advanced to another stage of life which we call adulthood. I will be discussing adulthood in the paragraph below under the next question.
Who is considered as an adult in your country? Included age.
Just as I have earlier explained above, adulthood here in my country is someone who is 18 years and above. Once you have reached the age of 18, you are considered an adult. Once you are an adult, it is believed that you are expected to shoulder some responsibilities. You don't have to depend solely on your parents or guardians any longer.
Adulthood brings you to the reality of life itself. In some parts of Nigeria, once you attain the level of adulthood, your parents allow you to start fending for yourself. Sometimes you might be sent out of the house to look for your own house because the house will no longer accommodate too many adults. As a girl, that is the period where you will be pressured to go and get married. Whereas as a guy that is the period you are expected to look for something and start doing and also earn something tangible and support the family.
Childhood or Adulthood, which do you prefer?
When I was a child, I had no idea what adulthood is all about. Just like the contest early said, we all yearn to become adults and when we became adults we want to go back to childhood. My case is not different at all. I prefer childhood because anytime I see the responsibilities on my shoulder as an adult, sometimes I feel like those children jumping and playing around with zero worries.
A child doesn't need to disturb himself or herself about anything such as what he will eat, what he or she will wear, or the work to do they earn a living or even his or her school fees. All they do is just play around with zero worries. I prefer childhood because of the reasons presented above.
Give at least 3 reasons why you prefer childhood or adulthood
Just as I have already stated above, there are numerous reasons why I prefer childhood to adulthood. I will be highlighting these reasons one after the other again in this section.
Childhood has zero worries when it comes to things of the world such as food to eat, cloth to wear, solving family problems etc.
As a child, you have the mindset that you still have much time to stay and enjoy this life but as an adult, as the year passes by, you will always see yourself coming closer to your end.
In childhood, you are free to do a lot of things with no serious consequences attached to them. But once you are an adult and you perform any crime, you will immediately face the law and you will be punished accordingly.
If you have pictures of your childhood and adulthoodod, we will like to see it.
Well, I don't have any pictures of my childhood but I have that of my adulthood. I grew up in a very remote area where they don't keep too many records hence I was not opportune to have a picture of myself as a child. Since I don't have my childhood picture, I will be sharing with you all the pictures of my adulthood. The image above is the picture of myself at the time of writing this very article. I'm currently above 18 years of age and hence according to the constitution of my country, I'm a full-grown adult.
Conclusion
Childhood and adulthood are movement stages of life that everyone is expected to journey. Provided you don't die as a child, you must get to adulthood. We can't just escape being adults no matter what we do. Adulthood comes indeed with many responsibilities and that is the very reason why most people including myself prefer childhood to adulthood. I miss those good old times. Our daily routine was eat, play and sleep.

Indeed! Childhood is most preferred. A stage one doesn't care about anything only food. A stage one becomes proud and tells what he or she will become in future without thinking about it. What a pleasure it has been to read about you and your childhood, also to learn about the coming of age of your country Nigeria. In my country, people over the age of 18 are also considered adults.
Like you, I prefer my childhood, those were carefree times, when we are adults, we live worried about everything.
Too bad you don't have any pictures of your childhood, it's just that, in those days, there were not as many cell phones as there are now with cameras heh heh heh, that would allow you to keep a record.

In childhood we have worries about school , pressure of parents etc . But yeah not about the things you have mentioned .
Death is inevitable and even childs do die. Reminder of end is good in terms of making good deeds.
In India we have juvenile justice court , if a child cmirs some serious crime he is sent to juvenile rehab centre to mend his habits and council him without punishment.

No child is prepared to assume the responsibilities of an adult when we reach the age to be considered adults, life simply teaches us along the way.
