Eliora felt a sense of warmth by his words. Truly, it was her first day at the Roosevelts Enterprise.
Even when her father was alive, she had never visited the office. It was her first day at the place her father used to work, the same place she had dreamt of following her dad's footsteps in his occupation.
But certain dreams never stood the test of time.
It should mean something right? Indeed, it should but she was in no mood for a celebration at the moment.
Before she could even refuse the offer, the cranky fellow in her head had already begun nagging.
'He wants to treat you to dinner. Amongst all the people around you at the moment. This fellow is the scariest and even your greatest rival and yet you want to go out partying with him'
'Unbelievable! Why did I have to be stuck with you of all people?'
She gritted her teeth and endured his ranting besides what more could she do. If she said anything to him, she would look like the mad one, not him.
"Maybe another day, I really want to rest today. Nobody said working in the office would be so tiresome. You are really trying" she humoured
"Hah! You would get acquainted to it soon enough. I do hope Bridget is teaching you well" he replied
Though he was fully aware of the answer to that question. He just hoped, Bridget didn't go overboard. If she did then he wouldn't be able to hold his peace any longer.
The car fell silent once again. Only if Eliora could also enjoy this silence but apparently Aiden had other plans.
'Great, we escaped that' he heaved
'Now go online and confirm the current information on the Winthrops'
Sge chuckled and stared out through the window completely ignoring the fellow. It was a good thing she was seated behind. She wouldn't seem nuts.
'Are you listening to me at all?' he sounded displeased
She glanced at Elliot, who was focused on the road. When she was certain he was paying no attention to her, she replied.
"Aiden, ask politely, trust me a little humility doesn't kill, to think that you are even considered dead, no loss"
'Miss Roosevelt, I need you to know that when this matter blows off, you would be duly rewarded'
His displeasure was evident in his tone but she was just starting besides what could he do? Shout a little louder?
"When you are ready do inform me? Hopefully a century later" she smirked
Shutting her eyes, she layed back and enjoyed the ride, a small smile plastered on her lips.
She would just have to do some social service for the city by teaching him some manners.
'Please! there! Now confirm it' he replied almost immediately
Eliora scoffed, snapping her eyes open. Why did he consent so quickly? Where was his pride?
"I didn't get what you said" she muttered, clearly displeased
Where was the fun in being complaisant all of a sudden?
'I said please, now check it' he said again
Like it barely meant anything. This didn't seem like the victory Eliora was expecting.
"No, say Miss Eliora, I humble request your aid at this point of my incapability. Something like that, you need to show more sincerity"
So what if he said 'please' his tone still sounded authoritative and his words didn't seem the littlest bit polite.
He remained silent and her cheeky smile was instantly restored. He still had some pride besides he was Aiden Winthrop after all, she smiled at her thought.
Aiden said no more for the rest of the drive. Soon they arrived at the Eliora's home. A middle aged woman stood outside watching the road.
She had some warm clothings on. Her eyes flashed with curiosity when she saw a white Volkswagen drive closer. This curiosity was soon replaced with coldness the moment she sighted Eliora and Elliot alighting the car.
