DIARY GAME 15-12-2021: ADDRESSED SOME PARENTS AT A SCHOOL IN AKWA IBOM STATE ON "THE ACTIVE INVOLVEMENT OF PARENTS IN SENSITIZING THEIR CHILDREN ON SEX EDUCATION"

Because kids are young and naive, they become easy prey to paedophiles and molesters. To prevent this from happening they need to be educated on the important things they need to know.

Today, Youth Limit Breakers (YLB), an NGO I work with, had the wonderful opportunity to address a group of parents and children present at the 2021 Christmas/graduation party of Gold and Saint Model Schools, Mbikpong Ikot Idem, Ibesikpo Asutan on THE ACTIVE INVOLVEMENT OF PARENTS IN SENSITIZING CHILDREN ON SEX EDUCATION.

Our main focus was on how this sensitization can curtail the rate of sexual abuse children encounter like rape, child prostitution, incest, dating a minor etc.

Parents were reminded of their duty to inculcate the right values in their children. This is important because if they don't do this, the wrong people will. The need for them to be accessible and sensitive to the child's needs could not be overemphasized.

As part of the discussion, they were also informed of apps such as Find My Kids, Life360 that could keep them notified of their children's activities on the internet, at home or school.

Parents, as well as trusted adults and institutions, are saddled with the responsibility of protecting children from being exploited sexually. Join the fight against child sexual abuse today.
