LESS PRIDE, LESS EGO.

This lesson is best taught with a story. A friend once told me about his course mare in school. A very smart guy who graduated with a first-class degree and set the record as the best student the school has trained since its inception. Probably because of his achievements, he couldn't contain his pride.

At work, he feels more competent than anyone else, even his boss, which causes to have issues with and his co-workers. Just in the space pf 5 years after graduating from the University, he has switched job up to 8 times. He had no problem getting the job, but keeping it was a problem.

His last job, before my friend told me about him was an oil and gas services company. Few months after getting the job, he started having issues at work. It just seemed impossible to work with him because he feels he knows so much. In less than 3 months he started belittling his co-workers, constantly reminded them that he ought to be placed in a higher position.

This affected the performance of his duties and he was summoned for questioning by senior officials. Yes, the manager is not top class but he is still a manager but the young man doesn't see it that way. He spoke to the manager carelessly and was suspended indefinitely without pay.

Now, there is a lot of learn here. In this story, you will understand why it is always said that pride leads to destruction. As humans, we may find ourselves in situations where our ego wants a massage. Perhaps you are destined to do something good and allow him to touch your pride. Just know that you can't and won't be able to do it without you.

Many people fail not because they do not deserve success, but because they overestimate themselves and blew up their ego. It's good to have self confidence, but don't let it show off as ego. Ego or pride is always followed by arrogant. They will feel above all others and this will make them inaccessible. Eventually, they will realize that they can be replaced easily and by that time it will be too late.

Learn to see arrogance is one of the greatest human weaknesses. This is because most people don't know when they start becoming arrogant till they loses control. Always remember that you do not have unlimited knowledge or unlimited possibilities and also remember that you are not all powerful. This will help keep you in check at all time.
