In the world of photography, the camera lens captures things of different varieties. With this, we have different genres of photography which gives out details pertaining to a subject matter. One of the genres is nature photography which insect photography happens to fall under the categories. Insect photography is one of the hardest photography because the subject (Insects) wont pose for the camera rather you take the shot with precision and persistence. With this, let’s get into the main matter.

Tell us about the insect you captured

Grasshopper is one of the medium-large insects known for its destructive ability. Entering a green field, you will see these creatures jumping in their number. They are known mostly for the powerful legs which they used for high jumps across and around the fields. As we grew up, my mother does take us to her farmland and we see these creatures jumping from crops to crops. I remembered asking her why they were there. She responded that there are pests that harm the crops to satisfy themselves.

How did this insect behave when taking the shot

As we know those grasshoppers won’t pose for our camera but they’ll run around. In order to take a shot, I had to choose to focus on a particular grasshopper. I noticed its movement for a while. When it left the field to a rocky surface, I knew it was a perfect time to implement my mind. It was just lying when I tiptoed to achieve a shot.

What challenges did you have while capturing this insect?

The major challenge I had was the constant movement of the subject (Grasshopper). Even while taking the shot, it was slightly moving blurring some of my shot since I activated portrait mode.

My trials while taking the shot

I didn’t get it well at first but I persisted. After many shots which I couldn’t count, I got a perfect one. To answer a question, the number of shots was close to 10 times because of its random movement.

Differences in the zooming function

I didn’t really have a zoom function activated because I used a portrait mode. When I zoomed in, I had the subject more in sight than the environment. When I tried zooming out, I caught standing while facing the camera. In the actual sense, it caught my attention and tried to run away.
